Am I hating this?... heh its a mix. Still not there with all this. I feel like I went from "Samurai final redemption where Jack finally gets to go home to... NEXT ON THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS". And before a pro-shipper trashes me/bashes me on Tumblr or Facebook, give me a break. I'm human/I don't have to like this, and in all honesty talking or expressing it helps me get over it better. So thats it, you can get mad at me when I cuss/or wish worse on the show. And I don't, I accept that they'll probably get married/have babies/and that Jack will quit his quest to go home.
I THINK one of the reasons I have trouble accepting this right now. For a few reasons, one its honestly a cliche. Guys sorry it is, as much as I love Ashi and her development. It was a little obvious "First new character/ ONLY centers on her... yeap she's gonna be his love interest". Even I first thought about it when she was first introduced. But I wanted to shrug it off.
Second, was well I hate to say it a mixture of fanart/tumblr fanon ideas. When we first saw Ashi a lot saw her as a surrogate daughter for Jack. I saw fanart, I saw blogs/texts(not sure what the proper word is) of fans saying "the Scotsman would give Jack parenting tips". And lets be honest when they first met, she did act like a child. So its kinda hard to go from that to "oh she's a legal adult, so thats good for their sexual attraction".
Third... hmm this one just came to mind. Yesss I know I've read fans tell that Ashi isn't underage. But still she is new to the real world, this feels a mixture of force and not best. I dunno I'm gettin' a Korra vibe here. (Sorry if no one has seen Legend of Korra). She's just knowing Jack as a friend, coming to terms with the world, and then automatically its"LETS BANG NOW". That makes me think of Korra/Mako too much. You know Korra kept gravitating to Mako cause she had no real interests in her circle often.
And then there's my person reasons... because of the second. I did want a father/daughter bond, heck I wanted Jack to somehow mentor Ashi into a samurai. So that even if he dies/or alters the future. I see that being her constant path. Heck I wanted Jack to go back to the past KILL Aku and fix the future. Shut up if the future changes that means things change for everybody Scotsman and Ashi included. She and her sisters might have a different future, maybe a happier one.
I mean I have watched this show for a long time too. I thought if the show must end, it should end with Jack accomplishing his mission. GOING HOME, FIXING THE PAST. Not "Oh how dramatic lets have him give it up for love and be king/or something with babies". That feels too Disney for me, just cause its dark doesn't mean its not a Disney ending. I'm honestly gonna be disappointed if thats the case. That feels honestly anticlimatic.
(from first attempt) ... yeah just saw C .... heh I honestly still couldn't get into it. The ep felt like it was trying to say "Look more proof we're not rushing it". Knowing next week is our finale and that Jack will probably give up his attempt to go home or give up to save Ashi... I hate it when a leaker is right 8/. On the upside guess we as fans were wrong, Ashi is his kid... which kinda makes the idea more cliche. So we get a Romeo+Juilet feel except again Jack's gonna give it all up to have a young lover.... And I'm stilll not convinced that in over 50 years of his time. Jack's not looked at ONE woman. I know he couldn't think all women were that Aku form he took.
And this is more a mixture of fandom/just fans in general(fanartists), I honestly kinda hoped we'd have Ashi meet the Scotsmans' daughters. Bond and honestly I kinda wanted her to be with one of the daughters, sorry if you're pissed at me for giving into that fandom. But thats the one character I would have loved to see be a lesbian
.Edit:: In regards to the video game... thats still a no.Don't like the ship 8B. I respect the creator's feelings but I'm sorry I roll my eyes at Ashi being his "hope" or "true love". Still don't ship them 8B.
Okay I'm done talking 8B. Just remember guys I DONT hate this. I don't hate Ashi, I loved watching her development. I'm just I dunno I kinda expected more from this story and the characters other than the cliche couple. But oh well, I accept this and I accept what happens.

I found the romance annoying 8B and I'll be honest I didn't cry when she "faded". I've seen time travel movies and eps, almost allll rules warn "Oh change the past can affect some parts of the futureee"

Just gah Jashi never clicked with me, not even after she "disappeared". Everyone was all "awww" or "Ohno!". I was just "hehe that can happen with time travel/interference

First of all someone gave the cricket girl a name KIYOMI & she seemed more of his type! Secondly about Ashi...at first she did NOT seem like his type at the start, she was like a SPOILED YAPPING BRAT going on & on about KILLING HIM & Jack trying to convince & teach her about the truth that AKU is the evil one not him! Besides she CAME from Aku & that's why after Jack finally destroyed him, she just VANISHED FROM EXISTENCE!!!

I wanted to ship it at first when I first saw it, but of course before getting into the lore and watching the later eps...I prefer it more as a platonic relationship, you know, good friends despite the troubles they both faced and the development. I mean, not every character needs a love interest anyways.

I don't hate Ashi; I hate how she's used.
It seriously feels like she was added with the intent of giving The creators and horny fans something to beat their meat to, first and foremost. I don't even think I need to explain why; look no further than the multiple times we see her naked, the fact that she was basically naked while she was coated with ash, the rather large butt, and the fact that episode eight was pretty much a thinly veiled sex scene towards the end.
I hate her being so clingy to Jack- EVERYTHING she does revolves around Jack. She doesn't try to pursue anything other than Jack. She Heroifys Jack, doesn't even question Jack anymore, is completely compliant and subservient. I liked Ashi in episode 4 because she made things difficult for Jack; she was fighting him constantly, she got irritated, she thought she knew more about how the world worked. Now... now she just feels like someone who's there to validate how "amazing" Jack is.
Her development was fine, but it lead to an unsatisfactory conclusion, I feel.

The latest episode was pretty satisfying on this point. Turns out Jashi isn't real because Ashi basically isn't real. I guess Aku is still the only woman for Jack, as we've all known from the start.

I'm holding out hope that Genndy's talk of a "bittersweet end" means she's doomed. XD I wanted to like Ashi, but she's literally not been allowed to have a single moment of character development that wasn't centered around Jack. She's not her own character, just a reward object made for him, and I hate that trope so much.

Ashi's not left Jack sight/or scene one real time. We don't see her try to find herself or make friends or anything. Maybe thats another reason why I can't click with it.

Oh the ship is horrible, I'm so with you on that. D: I think if I'd never been bothered by Jashi fans early on, I'd hate it a little less, but not by much. I saw it coming from the minute she was given a name in the first episode and I was just like "Genndy, no. Don't do this. You're better than that." XD
Yeah, that's the frustrating thing about Ashi. She's born/raised to kill him, she's obsessed with doing that, then she's obsessed with finding him, then just plain obsessed with him... She never gets to be herself without Jack figuring somewhere in her life as a major focus. She was literally written and created to be an object reward for Jack and, as a result, has no real identity apart from him. It's so frustrating.

Its also sad 8/. I mean given how there have been some female characters(granted not all recurring), you'd think that road could have been avoided.

Oh man, that was so me, too. XD Around about episode 5 I started losing hope, then it rose a bit all the way through episode 7...aaaaand then ep 8 hit and just...eugh. Pretty much killed my interest in this season and I still kind of consider it not part of the original four seasons at this point.
Alas, I think Genndy's just not very good at long form storytelling. With short single episodes, he's great at making a simple story work well. But with this long format, it's really exposing his weaknesses as a writer, and a huge one he has is writing female characters who are their own people.

If she dies at the end of it all, my reaction will be akin to 'Welp, so long!'
I'm really glad to be able to let this all out without being attacked by rabid fans, I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way about the pairing

Ashi was only written to be Jack's love interest and that's it. 
If she dies at the end, I won't be surprised. XD She's only going to die or be Jack's trophy girl. That's what she was written to be and I am forever disappointed by it.
Saaaaaaame! XD I feel like I'd hate the pairing slightly less (but not by much) were it not for the fans, but it's been badly done from the outset and I wasn't happy when she was introduced the way she was. Ashi had so much potential and she could have been written in such a way that even a romance with Jack wouldn't have felt so out of place, but what we've got is just...bad. Bad to the point that I doubt I'm going to consider season 5 as even being properly part of this series by the time it's over.

I barely remember season 3 of Gargoyles, except that it didn't bother me personally. XD Alas, the Samurai Jack comics don't provide a satisfying ending, either, but it's still better than what we're getting right now. XD
Genndy chose to have only 10 eps and then wrote them this way. :/ I've lost so much respect for him as a storyteller. He's got a lot of skills, but it's painfully clear that longform storytelling isn't one of them.

I wonder how he's going to cram a fitting conclusion in about 22 minutes for this final episode? Then again, part of me is thinking along the lines of this:

Well even if this ended as a father/daughter or master/student relationship anyway, Aku would have used Ashi to beat Jack, because no matter what relationship it is, if it's someone you care about in life you will not want to hurt them, I would kneel devastated if my parents, siblings, friends, close teachers or couple, are being used for something evil
