Description The dango plush pattern! This one is very small compared to the plush I posted earlier. If you want a bigger pattern, you need to enlarge this pattern.

Note: The bottom (times four) of the triangle should equal the circumference of the circle. This pattern will make a dango that can fit into your palm.

How much did you enlarge the pattern for to make your huge dango? My daughter wants one for and I thought I would try making one for a Christmas present. Also what stuffing did you use, I'd love to make one that moved and squished like it look like it did on the anime but can't think what the stuffing would have been other then bean bag filling.

To make it larger, I drew a giant circle using a compass. I measured the diameter of the circle and used that to calculate the circumference of the circle. I took the circumference of the circle and divided it by four, and that give you the base of the triangle part of the pattern. However, I add another inch to the triangle base to allow for a 1/2 inch seem allowance. So, if your 1/4 circumference measurement is 18 inches, then make the triangle base 19 inches. If you don't add the seem allowance, the circle will be too big for the four triangle that are sewn together.
Once you have your base drawn out, the height of the triangle will be the same length as your base. So, a 19 inch base will result in a triangle that is 19 inches tall. Mark the center point on your triangle base and then make a dot 19 inches above that point. Then draw one side of the triangle, slightly curved and not a straight line. Cut along the base and the curved line, fold the pattern in half, and trace the curved line you made so that both sides of your triangle are equal. Then, you've got your triangle and your circle!

For my dango plush, I used anti-pill fleece for the fabric and a polyester fiberfill for the stuffing.
If you want that squish and movement feel you were talking about, I'd recommend a pastel colored spandex knit fabric. However, spandex isn't the best fabric for embroidering, and it can, and probably will, snag. I would reccomend using fabric glue. If you use spandex fabric, try using bean bag filler plastic pellets to get that ultra squish feeling.

I hoped that that helped. If you have any more questions, just feel free to ask. Private message (notes) is the best way to reach me, because I usually don't see comments otherwise.

This looks very helpful.
I've been working on a Mrs. Brisby doll since December 2011 and I'm almost finished with it. I've traced the parts in case any one here wants to make their own Mrs. Brisby doll. She's a character from one of my favorite films the Secret of Nimh. back in the 80's there were mrs. brisby dolls but they were horrible, they didn't even look like her. That's why I wanted to make my own and so I could see I ould make one way better than the one from the 80's.

I want to make one to my girlfriend too, I already did one with this pattern and I got one little dango

I printed out the pattern and then used math to make the pattern bigger. You could expand the picture on your computer and print out a larger version. If need be, I can make this pattern a little bigger too and post it. However, I may only be able to double its size.

Thank you very much, and thanks for the explanation!
Can you tell me how did you use the circumference? I red some guides saying that you need four pieces like [link]

Maybe the bottom of the dango is flat?

The bottom of the dango is flat. The pattern you posted is one for a sphere (kind of like a beach ball). I can post a tutorial if that would help.

Hahaha, this is my first dango: [link]

It's the first time I sew so it's not as perfect as yours but I think it's ok, I'll keep working to get your level!

Thank you for the pattern
