While I was at the convention a few of the guest speakers kept commenting things like "You all live in the desert you don't even KNOW what cold is"Super insulting, btw.
So of course everyone, including me, was like "We're not weenies omg we can handle cold"
I'm currently freezing my nipples off. In the middle of the desert. No snow.
If people from other parts of the world were to visit they'd probably be sporting bikinis.
And yea, it's not snowing and I drew snow. Sue me, Jack Frost.

it is very insulting when someone says that. I live in Arizona and it gets freezing here. (I live in the mountains though) but still people think Arizona is a giant desert. NO it has a few biomes in it sheez. I also find it insulting when people I assume I live in the desert because Arizona is known for their desert .-.

The reaction was usually "Whaaaat no we know what cold is like"
as NY has like 7 feet of snow and we had rain once for two minutes xD
So it wasn't really insulting... we pretty much acted exactly as they said we would in what we think is cold. So it was funny.
And then I thought I was dying of frostbite because it was like 60 degrees. So even better haha
It /does/ get cold in the state.
We get winds and snow and shit from California and Montana and Utah and shit, but where I live specifically I am surrounded by mountains on one side and pure distance on the other so winds/snow/etc. rarely get anywhere near here.
If I lived in another part of the state I'd probably be mad at the stereotype because just 45 minutes away they get a loooot of snow.
But for me the stereotypical desert is totally a thing.

It's a "grass is greener on the other side" sorta thing, lol I'm sure most of those guests speakers couldn't handle the cold that antarctic people do.
