Clane. Pretty close to Dublin. And you?
Oh, you're doing the leaving cert too?
Honours or pass maths??
I'm honours. Tomorrow is going to be a total fail. Kinda got burned out on Saturday and I'm till recovering, can't focus to save my life! Well, hopefully some early morning cramming will save the day.
Good luck tomorrow!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MoPofearth In reply to armed-with-a-pen [2009-06-08 15:52:51 +0000 UTC]

Ha, good for you being in honours I'm Honours in any subject as a rule but the prospect of the subject I hate possibly causing me to repeat was just too horrible. The Pass paper was total win! Early morning cramming is the way to go, otherwise the information falls out of your head through your ears while you sleep... Hope you did well in the end!

Oh, and Laois btw

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

armed-with-a-pen In reply to MoPofearth [2009-06-08 16:22:27 +0000 UTC]

Lol, early morning cramming didn't really happen. I did vectors, thats about it.
It was OK, I was surprised about that, I was missing a small part of almost each question but thats only a bit of the mark. So I think I did okay, and the Paper 1 will bring me up I'd say The ridiculous thing was that the only theorem I forgot to learn off came up... I didn't even know it was a theorem until one of my friends told me after the exam... XD
Glad the pass paper was handy.
You're better off to do at least one pass subject. An all honors set would kill you unless you do loads of work, and I never really do so... Yeah. Doomed for accounting and/or physics... XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MoPofearth In reply to armed-with-a-pen [2009-06-08 17:42:29 +0000 UTC]

Well you can always make up the points in the other subjects... Or so I always tell myself My eyes hurt today... I think it's lack of natural light from the hours spent in exam centres... Hey, there could be a silver lining if you can sue for that kind of thing! I was in honours maths til right after the mocks... and then I said 'screw it I want to do art anyway'

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

armed-with-a-pen In reply to MoPofearth [2009-06-08 20:18:43 +0000 UTC]

Lol, yeah, I'll just go and spoof an A1 out of business tomorrow!

Poor you. by the way, thats the only geeky smiley face dA has [fail ]
Me too though. I need glasses as it is, add spending the day in the exam centre... Ugh, painful. And for both of us, sitting at the computer is sooo not a good idea right now lol
Art? In that case you pretty much just need a portfolio and any kind of leaving cert. Thats what one of my friends keep sayign or rather: "I don't need a leaving cert" the way he puts it...
OK, no, it really depends, right? For some art courses you need 900 points. And portfolio is only like 500 or 600 so, you still need to get 300 points.
What are you aiming for?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MoPofearth In reply to armed-with-a-pen [2009-06-09 13:43:12 +0000 UTC]

I'm aiming for above 500. I know it's unnecessary but I got 485 in the mocks so I'd like to bring that up. I know I did better in English and Home Ec, but the ones I can't suck in start on Thursday, with Biology and Art... I especially need to succeed in the Art History and Appreciation paper cos I did Imaginative Composition and it SUCKED! What points/course do you want?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

armed-with-a-pen In reply to MoPofearth [2009-06-09 21:27:13 +0000 UTC]

Wow, impressive. I was very silly and didn't study for the mocks. Got 315 because I do 6 subjects and Lithuanian and there wasn't a mock for that. Plus I failed maths
But I never do good in the mocks so meh.

Its really cool that you got so much in the mocks. And its just awesome that even though you don't need the points you're trying to get as much a you possibly can. I have a friend, he's planning to do art next year, and he dropped down to pass for most of his subjects even though he couldn't done honours almost everything if he tried.

I hope you'll do good in art. Actually I can almost bet you'll do great in all subjects. You seem to have a good head on you! And I'm even more sure And imaginative composition probably did not suck, well it might have, but I bet you aced it anyway!

Well I need 390-420 for the Finance and accounting course in Maynooth. Around the start of June end of May I wasn't sure I'd get it. I lost all hope for the 500 point scholarship. But now, I think I still can make it to 500. I got an A1 in business. I mean yeah, its not nice to brag but that was THE EASIEST paper I have ever seen. Didn't skip parts, knew the answer to every little thing they asked. I was perfect for time. It took me 5 minutes to pick out the question I would do because they were all so good! Seriously, have not been happier about taking business. Ironic because I hated it at the start [very boring] and read novels at the back of the class all through 5th year... Still managed to get an a in the summer test though... XD Don't ask how, I'll never know either.

So after 4 subjects I'm guessing I'm around 345-355

What about you? How much points you need? How did you do so far?
3 to go

[Gosh, this was long, sorry for rambling so much, I guess I'm still a bit hyper lol]

MoPofearth In reply to armed-with-a-pen [2009-06-09 21:49:07 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I think it'd just be nice to clear 500, I could have aimed for 600 but meh, too late now I felt like the exams have gone alright so far, English was brilliant, Home Ec was actually good (although mostly just glad it's over) and Maths was fine even though I'm not counting it. 4 left ><

Heh, I'm the same in Economics as you are in Business, it's my last paper and I have 4 days free before it I'm going to face paint at a library for one of them

How long have you been in Ireland? (also isn't it brilliant not to do Irish? )

whoo for hyperness

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

armed-with-a-pen In reply to MoPofearth [2009-06-10 16:58:46 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, 500 would be great!
I'd laugh if you got 600 and someone who wanted to do like medicine or law barely scraped 500. It's good that you're happy.
I have a feeling I'm not counting accounting, 'cause its evil...
French is over!!!! 2 left. AND I'm working tomorrow and Sunday and going up north to splash out my savings from the last 6 months on Saturday.
Face painting? Sounds cool! I don't think our library does fun stuff like that. Although I did see the mobile library truck in Aldi's parking lot.

I've been here since third year. And yeah, Hooray for not doing Irish [and getting 5 free classes a week every year (and everyone is so jealous, since I'm getting an exam thats like English paper 1 in a language that I'm fluent in, instead of something like Irish)] and taking up French from zero and not failing it (so relieved about it)! And same goes for business

Economics? Lucky you! We never got to do it! It wasn't an option that year, didn't get music to go onto the option's tables either...
Would have loved it
Oh, by the way, are you doing French or German? Or something like Spanish?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MoPofearth In reply to armed-with-a-pen [2009-06-10 18:02:49 +0000 UTC]

Doing German. should be the easiest exam of the bundle... still worrying about tomorrow, but we'll see!!! O,o I start work... shortly after the exams, not sure when. Fun factory time once more >< but at least I'll be able to pay for summer - and a decent camera!!!

OMFG ELVIS COSTELLO IS AWESOME

ok madness over, madness over. He IS awesome though!!!

I bow to your superiority, I could never do Accounting!

Good luck!
Factory time? Eh?
I work in the shop, the deli - make sandwiches and such.
Are you buying a DSLR? 'Cause if so, I recommend a Nikon. They are awesome, very good quality of colours, and if you plan to buy extra lenses in the future they are not as expensive as Canon. I think you could get a Nikon D60 Or D80 for 369 euro, maybe a little more, but D40 which is still bloody amazing [*Jenipho uses one as far as I can remember] would be something like 320 euro or less from Argos [they have very good priced DSLRs ]and with [only] 8megapixels can achieve amazing clarity and quality that would be unimaginable to any of those little digital cameras even if they had 15 megapixels.
Of course d60 has 10 megapixels and can do miracles in good light [macro photographs with an 18-55 lense] and it has image sensor cleaning is very stable so you get less shaky photographs and can shoot moving objects fairly well.
Anyway, I'm gonna stop giving you random information, but I'm hoping you're sold

What was that about Elvis Costello?

Lol, I would never do Accounting if I had any brain in me. Its like the most horrible subject invented. the syllabus is made so that people after the leaving cert could go straight into working with private practices...
