nice work, I really like the Alice Neel quality of the painting with green shadows of the shirt, and the white parts giving it a kind of unfinished look. The red line works well too, I think. The black lines might be a bit too much contrast for my taste, but. Perhaps you could have worked more with contrasts in the face in stead, since this probably is the most important part of the painting, attracting the immidiate glance and focus of the viewer. To develop the portrait style of the painting I would definately look more into the work by Neel. Good work anyhow. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice colours. This painting instantly grabbed my attention - it has that edge that most self portraits lack. I think that interesting portraits are really hard to come by... I know I find them difficult to do - how to avoid being boring and predictable? most people (including myself) just maybe add splashes of colour around the face - which often looks cool, but still, predictable. Yours is a bit different, I like it.

It is a hard problem to take a look at himself, for everyone! There is vanity and there is a shell of self-world... You did include Your surround and gave a shaman light on Your eyes and hands... Good choice, good painting!

I think, every one is narcistic in some degree, me first, it must be a part of self-portrait as absolutely normal fact! Not talk about that, talk about all paintings, this one, I think, is all in Your personal koncept- composition, important elements, colors, light...

Pretty fine painting. I like that little sign that says 'Self-portrait' as well, lovely detail. I see you request critique on this, I'd might come back to do one on this painting or one of your others.
