The rhino population in Africa has taken a beating, fueled by silly myths about virility in the Far East. The horn is made of nothing but fortified fingernail...snorting it will NOT give you a longer-lasting erection...so stop fuelling the trade in this wonderful animal, cause the poachers take them down with AK-47 rifles and chop the horns out with axes, often leaving the calves helpless, which eventually leads to their death by starvation.For more info on supporting the cause of anti-poaching, go to [link]

It's just sick and sad to see this species being wiped out all because of someone wants to use it's horn to cure the sniffles.

just amazing... beautiful beautiful Rhino... so evil to to use this beautiful animal for self pleasure... and then it is a myth.... How were you able to see this and photograph this... Amazing...

Great DOF on this one, and the colours compliment this wonderfully (but of course you know that...)
It's been quite some time since I've had a good sighting of a wild Black Rhino, they are becoming less and less common.
On my last trip to SA we saw plenty of their cousins, but only a fleeting glance of a Black Rhino.
2010 was a very bad year for the Rhino's of SA, let's hope that this year will end somwhat more optimistically

I've said for years that I should compile a team of Nature-Aware combatants, and offer our vigilante services to countries in Africa with a poaching problem.
In return for turning a blind eye to our escapades, I'd give them the ornaments made from the poacher's teeth and bones.
Now that would be poetic justice right there!
