Description I WANT THIS OUTFIT SO BADLY!!! *cries* I got the initial inspiration for the skirt whilst watching The Hobbit (not any particular character's design, per say. Really just the feel of it all) but the upper part just kind of...didn't want to be designed yet. Then I went to a small local Renaissance Fair one weekend, which ended up being JUST the kind of inspiration I needed. So I sat down and was able to come up with the rest of the outfit, and I just love how it all kind of clicked together. It seriously just fell together so perfectly, I don't know why I had so much trouble with it before. *shrug*

But I really really really want to make this. I've even started collecting fabrics and pattern pieces, a little bit at a time. I just don't want to make it until 1) my diet has me where I want to be and 2) I own a really good, underclothes corset. See, if I have one really good corset, not a decorative one to wear on top, but one that's plain and sturdy, but really well made, then I can design a bunch of different outfits based on what my measurements are while I'm wearing it. This is one of those. See, this corset design isn't terribly practical, to be a cinching-type of corset. But it would look lovely if the figure and support is already underneath the clothes.

Can you tell my favorite color is purple? Oh, and if I lived in Middle Earth, I decided I would be a dwarf. I'm just happiest when I'm sitting down and making something, so I think it fits. Dunno if this is a totally dwarf dress, but I think it works. *shrug*

Sooooooo, you would grow a beard for outfits like this?

It is a cool design, though. Really liking the corset/over skirt combo.

Nope, no beard, though I may have to fluff my hair out a lot. In The Hobbit you see some dwarf women without beards!

I think my favorite part of this design is the way the top layer of skirt does that fold-back thing. Dunno how I'll do the design on the apron part, though. Embroidery would be stellar but time-consuming.

DON'T STEAL IT!! XD I haven't even made it for ME yet! I wanna be the first. But do you mean you'd like to buy this outfit made for you? Or do you mean you want to make it yourself?

But I actually had the idea to make a bunch of versions of the skirt with mix-and-match pieces. I just think I'd get bored with making the same things over and over.

Not so far. I mean, I've designed things for me, but no one has ever really approached me and asked me to design something for them. I've sat down with friends and daydreamed wedding dresses with them, but that's about it. XD It might be a fun exercise to try and design for someone, though. Be good practice.
