Maaan I really don't like that paper. Shiny cardboard is great for colour pencil but watercolour sucks on it.
His name is Vale, I decided. He is a moon harvester, so he climbs up cliffs and collects moonchildren (the lantern thingies -- moon lanterns, aha). The thingy in the background is a spaceship, the thing he's sitting on is a fish statue half buried in sand. The tattoo on his arm is familiar, I's don't think this kinda place'd fit in with the rest of the comic though.

~satougaki , although this looks less satougaki-ish than it did when I just had the lineart. Cuz her watercolours are nicer to her than mine are to me 
. Watercolour, mcdodgy mcpaper and waterproof black ink. Why do all the colours look the same?! Aaaack. Help me.

Oh dear god, it's beautiful dear! It's so whimsical and just so... magical. It reminds me of an illustration in a children's book, and the layout helps with this effect.
Meh... yes, that cardboard is a pain to use watercolours on. I had to do a school project a few days ago and... ug... stupid paints >.<
Anyway, the details are amazing, and the whole piece is elegant. Su-poib!

They put something on the cardboard that makes it hard for the paint to stay, so et sorta slides off and bleeds everywhere except where you wannit to go

I dunno about the paper I neve rused it personally but based on what I'm seeing now it's awesome! I love the compisition going on here! The perfect flow of the background and Vale is amazing! Just wow I really love it! It's perfect!

I'd give you some helpful critique, but A) I'm hopeless with watercolors, and B) I'm too busy drooling at the awesomeness. And I rather like the blue on his face, it makes the pic look more moonlighted because the colors are so surreal. Gorgeous work.

I love the texture the watercolour makes. Original lineart was awesome too. The blue shading on the skin look a bit too... blue. Which makes the character kind of blend into the background... but doesn't stop it from being a beautiful artwork.

Whatever you may say about the watercolor, I think they look beautiful. Especially the stars and that streak around the moon. I love the variation in linework style, the shapes of things, how the moons curl at the ends. The moon harvester concept gives it a beautiful fantasy feel, that you can capture the sky in a jar X3 Ohh, tingly

Okay, I love it; his rougish expression, right down to the stylized moon-spaceship. Also, I'm a sucker for blue.
The problem you may be having with the similar colors is that your water is blue when you're painting. Which isn't a big problem from where I'm sitting.

the paper did thwart me. this thing ent flat, it's 3d, thats how much the paper warped. And his face is too blue cuz it bled (my sister loves saying he's oxygen deprived because his face is blue....i'll eat her someday). yuss, we are teh twins of psychicness!! for lunch, you will eat...foood!! ahaha

The colors are so deliciously rich and gorgeous and blueeeeeeeee. With hints of green, and that's the best kind of blue. 
I feel a bit bad for the poor moonchildren, though. *pets them* I hope they're going to good homes...

hehe, his face is overly blue because the paper bled when I painted the sky in the background *veins pop*....They never tell you that painting will make you this stressed XD
unn, the moonchildren are used as outdoor lanterns. they can't be kept indoors for more than a couple hours because if they can't see the sky they'll stop shining. best used for traveller lanterns. *hands you one*
