Description Ever since I was a little kid I always wanted an Alien costume. So now that I have some construction knowledge under my cap, I decided that Halloween 2012 would be the year, but I decided to start early in case I encountered difficulties.
I will most more pics as it comes along.

So far it is made from the following:
Head: carved insulation foam. I even carved the second mouth inside...
Chest: The base is a fleece vest. The ribs are split foam tubes. Smaller tubes were a cut vacuum cleaner hose. The shoulder bumps are epifoam and insulation tubing. The sternum piece is foam.

This is what you do for a living, right? Well, IF it were the case that I had the money I would rather buy this then the costume kit that everybody else walks around in. This is more....MORE.

I am 13 and, for fun, a friend and I are re-making the original Alien (yes, it is a really ambitious and frankly stupid idea, but we tried once before and we are going to try again). This is not some small weekend thing to us, but rather a very important project we are pretty dedicated to...so, my question being, how did you make this costume (assuming you did and I didn't write this for nothing...)? Oh---don't worry about cost or materials...I just need to know how.

Goodluck man! Only thing i'm worried about is that the tubes you used for the ribcage look too... ..tubular.. Know what I mean?

Yeah, I'm going to see if I can shape them a little more. I am also going to make the rib 'joiners' on the sides, I just haven't gotten there yet. In the end I will also be painting them as well, and in the dark I don't think people will really care or notice.
Since I don't have access/time to do all the latex ribs, I decided to go with the next FLEXIBLE option and this is what I had available.

Good grief that is gonna be super-awesome when it's done! I thought it was a sculpt when I saw the thumbnail- and I was impressed then- but to think you're gonna be able to walk around in it?? WOW!!
