marital arts covers every nationality. kung fu is specifically chinese.

He basically learns martial arts to gain more self control and expand his limits, that might not necessarily means he's a chinese fanatic. I'm just saying, to lump that knowing kung fu definitely means you must love/be chinese is kinda stereotype.
