January's monthly prompt is "New Year Redo" and I chose this piece from back in 2019

It's been almost 3 years! Designs have changed, so has the environment. In the original I created a stark contrast of plant communities right against each other. I wasn't super experienced with painting backgrounds yet (if I even am now) and I didn't fully grasp how realistic the esk world is supposed to be. Upon redoing it I tried to create a more natural flow as though the oak and bamboo forests are growing into one another and the stream is a threshold. I also like that it almost looks like the same spot that has become overgrown as the years went by
