As the animal grows, you notice it has developed massive claws for digging along with scaled pads to protect its legs while tunneling. It has a thick coat to keep it warm in the cool underground, and a dark, iridescent pelt. It's tongue and gums are bright colors, potentially to warn off enemies or used in courtship. The glowing beads on its antennae and tail are swished around when the creature is agitated or courting. You later find that this creature is a rare find - driven almost to extinction by hunters, who sought the fur as well as the glowing beads and intensely colored flesh, which was thought to have medicinal or spiritual properties. This mass hunting has led this species to become notoriously aggressive in defense, but this particular individual seems to have warmed up to you...
