That scene showed again that Shingeki is much more realistic than any shounen manga i have read... and most of movies actually. It's almost funny (when supposed to be cool) when some character lose an arm/leg/get hole in stomach and act as nothing happened.
Here... even the biggest badasses feel the pain. Erwin looks seriously ill and almost on the verge of passing out in last chapter... yet he's not giving up^^

Yes, that's something very amazing about this series, the characters are actually human and that makes them so interesting and very deep. There isn't a single character who's not human, even Erwin for who they say has thrown away his humanity to become a monster so he can fight, is still a human being and at moments his act slips. And there are so many different characters who act in different ways and react and feel and have a mind of their own~
That's what makes SnK so damn good~

And it don't have chrystal clear characters... those guys stole food, picked fights, bullied others (Ymir), killed people, abandon they commandeers in order to survive.
And they're not stereotypical... marked as an idiot Connie was the one to say some most logical things in last few chapters, Strong and untouchable Mikasa showed also her weak side, Jean.. ok, his worldview get flipped by 180 degrees, silly potato girl rushed on a titan with axe, great solider Mike submitted to fear... and tons of similar stuff
