These Swallow-Bellied Mangalitsa piglets will be some of the last photos I'll be able to submit. When the piglets get too big, the zoo switches the mother and her little ones for a new, pregnant one. That way, there are practically always little piglets 
The other weekend, I went to the zoo, and the Red Mangalitsa had 9 piglets - one more than the Swallow-Bellied. And let me tell you, they are absolutely adorable!

Species: Swallow-bellied Mangalitsa or Curly-Hair Hog (Wolvarken)
Originates from Hungary.
It is rare breed.
You can recognize the Swallow-bellied breed not by any different behavior, but by her blond belly and feet, and black body; she was a cross between the Blonde and now extinct Black Mangalitsa.

I love Mangalitzas - especially the bacon!
No, honestly I don't eat much meat, but sometimes I love that bacon - they have it each year on christmas market in very good bio-quality.
There are Mangalitzas in Austria too, in Burgenland, near Hungaria. It's far more joy to see them alive then to eat them!

They are definitely a lot of fun to watch
They're really not all that well-known around here and though I reckon they're kept for the same reasons as most pigs, I've never seen their, well, meat to be purchased anywhere. I guess the vicinity of their original country may hava a role in that
