Description
Photo taken in July, 2013 @ BestZOO, The Netherlands
These Swallow-Bellied Mangalitsa piglets will be some of the last photos I'll be able to submit. When the piglets get too big, the zoo switches the mother and her little ones for a new, pregnant one. That way, there are practically always little piglets .
The other weekend, I went to the zoo, and the Red Mangalitsa had 9 piglets - one more than the Swallow-Bellied. And let me tell you, they are absolutely adorable!
Just like these fellows
Species: Swallow-bellied Mangalitsa or Curly-Hair Hog (Wolvarken)
Originates from Hungary.
It is rare breed.
You can recognize the Swallow-bellied breed not by any different behavior, but by her blond belly and feet, and black body; she was a cross between the Blonde and now extinct Black Mangalitsa.
