Description
When: November 21, 2019
Where: Ouwehands Dierenpark Rhenen, The Netherlands
Something had caught the Lions' attention - and it wasn't the Ducks resting in the water surrounding their enclosure.
They heard something, and it took a while, but eventually we saw the zoo keepers closing up. One of the benefits of staying late at the zoo - you see things you wouldn't normally see
Species: Southeast African, Transvaal or Kalahari Lion (Witte leeuw)
Latin name: Panthera Leo Krugeri syn. Panthera Leo Melanochaita
Originates from southern Africa, rangingfrom southern Namibia to southeastern Mozambique.
Did you know:
…Southeast African Lion are a subspecies of the African Lion.
…White Lions are a color mutation of Transvaal Lions. This is called leucism, and in Lions it only occurs in this particular subspecies.
