We love seeing and photographing new-to-us animals - and you all just happen to be the recipient parties of our glee in seeing this stunning Wallaby for the first time
This was actually the only one who properly showed itself, far in the distance, making it extra special for us to have spotted it after all
Species: Yellow-Footed Rock-Wallaby (Geelvoetkangoeroe)
Latin name: Petrogale Xanthopus
Originates from western New South Wales, eastern south Australia and isolated portions of Queensland.
Current status: Near Threatened
Did you know:
…The species was formerly known as the Ring-Tailed Rock-Wallaby.
…Though the IUCN has listed it as Near Threatened, they are considerd Vulnerable by the Australian government.
…In the past, they have been heavily hunted for their pelt.
