Where: Oliemeulen Tilburg, The Netherlands
I think we've only ever seen two Steppe Eagles, but both have already conquered a special place in our hearts. There's Merel at Texel Zoo (formerly Eureka) and now, this fellow. He was so handsome, and funny. Cocking his head, opening his beak, plain showing off (at least, that's how we interpreted his behavior). We have a lot of photos of him that we'd like to share, as we've quite fallen in love with him.

Species: Steppe Eagle (Steppearend)

Latin Name: Aquila nipalensis

Originates from East Europe to Mongolia for breeding and resides in India and Africa during winter

Current status: Least Concern
