Those juvenile feathers almost look like actual hair, don't you think:

Species: Bearded Vulture (Lammergier)

Latin name: Gypaetus Barbatus

Originates from Europe east to Siberia and Africa.

Current status: Near Threatened

Did you know:

…The Bearded Vulture was historically also called Lammergeier, meaning “lamb-vulture” because they were believed to attack Lambs, or Ossifrage, meaning “bone-breaker”.

…Though called a Vulture, one may also deem the Bearded Vulture a Bird of Prey. However, it’s closest living relative relative is the Egyptian Vulture.

…They are mostly found at high altitudes, and are as such associated mostly with mountains and cliffs.

…Like other Vultures, the Bearded Vulture is a scavenger, living mostly off dead animals. They have been observed to disdain actual meat, surviving on a diet consisting mostly of bone marrow.

…The Bearded Vulture may survive mostly as a scavenger, but they are also known to prey on live animals – more than any other Vulture perhaps. They will seize prey up to their own size, and drop them while in flight.

…Incidents have been observed where larger animals are surprised by a Bearded Vulture or the other way around, and the Bearded Vulture will batter the other animal with their wings until it falls off precipitous rocky edge to its death.

…It is one of the most endangered European Bird species.
