Description
When: October 27, 2019
Where: Safaripark Beekse Bergen Hilvarenbeek, The Netherlands
It's not too uncommon (at least, these days) to fly with multiple Birds at the same time during a Bird Flight Demo. It is amazing to see, no matter the species. But to have two large White-Backed Vultures flying? Stunning for sure! Aziz or Kadir is a true beauty
Species: [African] White-Backed Vulture (Witruggier)
Latin name: Gyps Africanus
Originates from Africa, Old World.
Current Status: Endangered
Did you know:
…The White-Backed Vulture is closely related to the European Griffon Vulture, and not as was thought previously, to the Indian White-Rumped Vulture.
…It is far more rare than was believed; it’s conservation status has gone from Least Concern to Near Threatened in 2007, and passed on to Endangered in 2012, skipping Vulnerable completely.
