Description
When: October 13, 2018
Where: Texel ZOO Oosterend Texel, The Netherlands
The Wallaby was fairly new to the zoo, but he'd sure found out already what he liked. Relatively shy, with only us around he was okay to stay on the grass and grasp at straws. Never knew them to eat grass, but it makes for a fun capture
Species: Parma Wallaby (Parma Wallaby)
Latin name: Macropus parma
Originates from New South Wales, Australia
Current status: Near Threatened
Did you know:
.. In the Nineteenth century it was believed the Parma Wallaby was extinct, but in 1965 and 1967 wild populations were found and captured for breeding/preservation purposes. Now the Parma Wallaby is not common, but not extinct either.
