Species: Comet Moth or Madagascan Moon Moth (Komeetvlinder)

Latin name: Argema Mittrei

Originates from the rainforests of Madagascar.

Did you know:

…As actual Moths, they cannot feed and only live 4-5 days.

…The Comet Moth has developed evolutionary to escape detection by Bats who use echolocation; they have the ability to use ultrasound absorption. The Bat will receive only a dampened echo, making the Moth effectively invisible to the Bat.

…They have more ways to protect themselves against attackers, such as crypsis, aposematism, mimicry and use their tail in defence.
