Okay, so, I had a dream about this creature back in 2009. But I couldn't find a reference to the book I saw it in. That's because it never existed!
I loved her so much, I dedicated my life to "pink dragons" before gondracorns came to my mind. Until today, I had no idea my dream was a reality.
I remember her tale as a sad one, though, not the current happy tale we all (except me) know.
Her name as I recall was Elmira. But I knew that that couldn't be right. I misheard her name or something.
She was "the last dragon". No, not like draco in dragon heart. But more like... erhm... well, really, the last dragon. But the tale was different than draco's. She was alone. Sad, lonely. None of her kind she has seen for ages. That is until she was met by this young boy. Then she was happy. But unfortionately, as it turned out, the young boy was a figment of her imagination, as science tells that the brain has delusion when under tramautic stress, and thus, the brain alleviates the pain and emotions by inserting false reality into your world.
Right when she realizes her false reality, the real boy turns up, who is actually a man, a hunter... a knight. He has been hunting dragons but has had no success, since dragons are very very rare. Now he found her, and a chance to prove himself as a knight to his king. She tries to reason with him, but he is not interested, only focused on knightship. She escapes his sword, and flees. He persues her to no end. Tired, exhausted, and dismayed, she finally gives up the flight, and moments later, he appears from the distance, and moves in for the... kill.
I remember this part of the dream very well, for it was moving, and left a memory scar in my mind.
She begs one last time, mercy. He stalls for a moment. What kind of a dragon wants mercy. But though it phases him for the moment, he proceeds with the death blow. As he thrusts his sword into her chest, it slowed, almost to a dead stop. His eyes had drifted, and had come in contact with the gentle, sentient, sad eyes of the dragon. Tears flowed from it. He shivered. Twice. And Three Times.
"Don't look at me like that..." he complained.
"You broke my heart." she sobbed in a soft voice
what seemed like a minute of sad music and eye contact exchanged, the knight's stone cold heart began to open. She finally began to sink to the ground, her eyelids heavily closing.
He quickly drew his sword out of her chest, and rushed to her side. "I'm sorry." he sobbed. "I didn't know... your just like us... and more!"
Lifting her head, he placed his forehead on her's. He sobbed. "What have I done...?"
She was gone by that time.
That's all I remember. Truely moving and heartwrenching... a very vivid dream...
How do I find this movie? The actual one? I want to watch it.

The shading is pretty interesting here, but for a moment I had doubts if it's really shading on the markings on that dragon.

The shading was my try at creating a scaly effect without having to draw excess scales that make the character look way too complicated for a cartoon. I still need to do a few experiments, though. c:
