I don't think Amata is a b*tch because she had no choice. I was a real nightmare for the vault. Personally i think that the overseer was a bitch (Just before i kill him).

Well if the good way everybody dies than they die in both ways I think. When you choose the evil way and kill everybody they die in reality as well. I think the only good way is to take the old lady's advise, pick-lock into the old house, use the terminal and hack the system to get out of there, and then when on the outside shut the whole system down.
On a seprate note, what did you get the game for? 360, PS3, or computer?

No, after your killing them, Betty reboots the sistem. But if you use the terminal sistem switched off completely. All people die becouse their bodies get atrophy and they can't live outside the system. The notes about it was in the terminal.
