OMG, I think this is the most amazing picture of the Joker I have EVER drawn from "The Dark Knight"! For those of you who know me on Gaia, you know I have a thing for Cop-Joker! Anyway, this picture took me a good 2 hours to do! I had several film stills that I used for reference, then drew it with my handy-dandy mechanical pencil. I colored the whole thing with colored pencils, and I must admit the uniform practically KILLED by blue and black pencils! The blue one kept breaking when I sharpened it! Stupid lead . . . >_<But, honestly, I believe this to be the best drawing I have ever done, next to my charcoal drawings. It turned out so amazing, I can't even begin to describe how much I love it! And I absolutely LOVED the Joker when he was disguised as an Honor Guard during that scene with Pretty-Boy-Mayor (c'mon! Admit that you noticed the Mayor wore eyeliner!
) But, yes, he was awesome, and it was one of the best, most surprising twists in the whole movie! The Joker, disguised, WITHOUT his makeup! =OOkay, I'll admit it . . . I sort of am a sucker for guys in uniform . . . Police, military officers, fire fighters . . . It's just so awesome and bad-ass! Yes, my little guilty-pleasure . . .
And, heh, I guess I can throw in one more well-known phrase: Scars are HOT! lol I kid! I kid! Just a little over-excited, is all! Kind of . . . hyper at the moment . . . Well, anyway, what else? Um . . . I love this!

Yes, you have to admit that he did look good in uniform. And THANK YOU for saying he had eye-liner! Stupid mayor..guh, all throughout the movie I couldn't get over the fact that he had eye-liner and probably mascara, too.

I know, it's so odd! Some men do wear eyeliner and/or mascara, and I always wonder why. Hopefully, for TDK, the Mayor's make-up was the make-up artist's choice, not the actors, lol

That's excellent, the scars, angle, and upturned eyes especially. You don't see enough drawings of him without face paint and that was such a shocking part of the film.

however... I thought the Joker would wear makeup over his makeup in that scene... or am I alone here in thinking that...

Well, based on the pictures I've seen from that scene, it is obvious he is without makeup because you can see his scars very clearly -- there is no trace of make-up on his face. However, I noticed he has dark circles under his eyes and looks kind of pasty, and my guess is that his skin looks like that from wearing the black and white make-up way too much. Just a theory, though . . .

And you're jealous of me?! You're crazy! I think you have a great concept of anatomy. And if you ever do go digital it does open some doors.. Here's where i stand.. i like the outcome of my art better when its digital.. but the process is so much more fun traditionally.

Well, as you know, as artists, we are so humble and are our own worst critics. It's a fact! It's just, I see art done digitally and I get jealous. But, I don't like doing digital art. It feels like you actually did something when you have a physical art tool in your hand. Sure, it can be tough sometimes, but for me it feels a lot more satisfying.
That's my two cents, anyway!

haha yea, That's why im hoping to someday get a Wacom Cintiq to up the natural feel to drawing. I hate being restricted to my desk i want to be to draw anywhere in the house. Because i like to spend time with my girlfriend as well as draw.. So im hoping laptop + cintiq would make me able to draw anywhere around the house.

When I draw, I take my sketchbook, sit down on my bed, and set it in my lap, my pencils, erasers, and coloring utensils all set down beside me. I know, I don't use a desk, but it's far more comfortable for me. I've done that so many times that there is a permanent spot on my mattress that is sagging, lol
Bleh . . . I'm going to need to buy some new colored pencils someday since mine are slowly dying and I need more variety . . . my colored pencils are actually a collection from different sets that I've had over the many MANY years -- like, since middle school! O_o My favorite black colored pencil is getting very small . . . and you can see that I've been using it a lot lately!
