“I swear, you guys are such pigs!”
Aiko shook her head as she watched her friends chowing down at the food court. She held her Pocky in one hand while the other began corralling crumbs. Right when all the crumbs were together, one of her friends sneezed, sending the crumbs all over both Aiko, and the floor. Stomping her foot, Aiko stood up, brushing the crumbs off her dress. Irritated beyond all belief, her eyes caught a cosplay shop nestled in the corner of the convention. With her friends seemingly oblivious to her irritation, Aiko stomped off to take a look at what the store had. Maybe she would find a new dress or some taller platform boots!
The shop was far larger than it looked like from outside and had a wide array of costumes. On one wall were many animal costumes, no doubt to appeal to the furry population. On the other wall were both superhero costumes and near the back, some more adult costumes. Shaking her head at those, Aiko walked down an aisle in the center of the store where she found a ton of different dresses. “Can I help you darlin’?”
Aiko spun on her heel and ended up with her face buried between two soft, pillowy breasts. Reeling backward Aiko landed on her butt, her face as red as the hair of the woman standing over her. Bending down, the woman extended her hand to Aiko and easily pulled her back onto her feet. “Are you okay darlin’? My apologies, I suppose I was standing a bit too close.”
“It’s okay I… just… how tall are you?!”
The woman giggled as she straightened up to her full height. “Not much of a filter on you I see. It’s understandable. Last I checked I was somewhere around six feet six inches. Enough about me though, let’s talk about you. What’s brought you into my shop my dear? Looking for something fun? Something sexy? Something to make your friends realize how slobby they are? Or maybe a combination of all three?”
Aiko’s eyes widened as she stared into the owner’s violet eyes. Nodding slightly, the owner smiled and patted Aiko on the head which both humiliated her and kind of made her feel good at the same time. Pulling an outfit off the shelf, she handed it to Aiko. “here darlin’ why don’t you go try this on? I’ve got a changing room in the back. I’m certain you will look just as adorable as you do now.”
As much as Aiko wanted to tell the owner the outfit wasn’t her style, she couldn’t seem to get her mouth to say the words. It was difficult to put her finger on why. Maybe it was the stature of the shop owner? Or perhaps it was the timbre of her voice? Either way, Aiko walked to the back and stared at the outfit. It looked like an old colonial maid outfit. Aiko undressed and quickly put on the outfit. She had to admit; the outfit did look cute but she wasn’t very happy about the shoes. Being a mere four feet tall, wearing flats, instead of her platform boots, cost her eight precious inches of height. Emerging from the dressing room, Aiko walked slowly to the shop owner. “This is nice and all, but I don’t think it’s really for me.”
The owner tapped her finger against her own chin. “Of course! How silly of me! I forgot the last piece! Here, let me put it on you.”
Before Aiko could object, the owner attached a frilly white headpiece on the top of Aiko’s head. Aiko’s eyes closed momentarily as a strange sensation started at her toes and traveled up to her head. When she opened her eyes, Aiko shifted awkwardly on her feet. The shop she was standing in had looked very clean when she first came in but now, she could see a thin layer of dust on the countertop. Come to think of it, the floors could use a good scrubbing as well. Clearing her throat, Aiko looked up to the owner and carefully spoke. “I appreciate the attention you’ve given me but I should really…”
“I can tell you’re a bit apprehensive about the costume. How about this? Why don’t you leave the store and show off your outfit to your friends? Maybe make them feel bad about being such slobs. After that, come back to the shop whenever you are ready and tell me how you feel. If you don’t like the costume, I’ll happily take it back and even toss in this.”
Aiko gasped as the owner held up a forest green poufy Lolita dress with matching platform heels. She didn’t need any other motivation. Sure, her friends would probably laugh at her but oh well, the dress would totally be worth a little laughter. Besides, she’d get her revenge by stomping on each of their feet with her new boots! Seeing a broom propped up against the entryway of the shop, Aiko turned and motioned to it. The owner nodded, and Aiko smiled, picking it up on her way out.
Upon reaching her friends, all of them stared at her, unsure what to say. Aiko straightened her apron out and exhaled softly. “My, my, my, aren’t you all the messiest of them all! Fear not, maid Aiko is here now and will happily clean up after you.”
All her friends collectively sighed as they watched Aiko sweep up a decent pile of food. “Okay Aiko we get it. Why don’t you stop now and we will take care of the rest?”
“Nonsense! A good maid ensures the utmost level of cleanliness and I am a very, very good maid!”
With her back to the group, Aiko giggled. She was really doing a fabulous job milking this! The look on their faces were priceless. It was a shame she had left her phone back in the changing room. Making a mental note to go get it later, Aiko completed her job. Using the dustpan that was attached to the broom, she gathered the pile onto it and dumped it into a garbage can. Satisfied her point was proven, Aiko reached up to take off the headpiece but found it knotted tightly with red string around her hair. Frowning slightly, Aiko made her way back to the shop only to find a sign on the door stating it was closed for lunch and would be back in thirty minutes. “Oh great, so I’m stuck like this for another half-hour? I guess it could be worse. I must admit, the stockings feel quite lovely on my legs.”
On her way back to her friends, Aiko noticed a puddle of liquid on the floor. By the looks of it, someone had spilled Mountain Dew and not bothered to wipe it up. “Oy, if only I had a proper mop, I could take care of that.”
Shockingly, the broom in her hand was no longer a broom but a mop! Normally, something like this would make anyone question what was going on but for Aiko, she merely smiled and got to work. Finishing up that job, Aiko looked up to see her friends standing around her. “Okay Aiko, we got it. We are pigs and you keep having to clean up after us. We promise we will do a better job going forward. Now, can we please get going? Zach Aguliar is about to take the stage for a Q&A. We know how much you like One Punch Man.”
Aiko was barely listening though. Instead, her eyes were darting from table to table. Crumbs here, wrapper on the floor there, tray left on another table, plastic bottle on the… “Aiko? Did you even hear us? Come on! We won’t get a good seat if we don’t leave now.”
Aiko’s eyes snapped back to her friend. “As much as I would love accompanying you, I must remain here. My personal belongings are inside that shop and I would hate to leave them. Please, go along without me.”
Despite her friends trying to coax her along, Aiko remained firm. Waving goodbye to them, Aiko immediately began cleaning up everything she could see. Whenever she stopped to question why she was cleaning up after strangers, her hands would tremble and Aiko found herself becoming increasingly anxious. That all disappeared once she began cleaning again. Every few minutes, Aiko would glance over to the shop, hopeful the owner would return. When the shop reopened, Aiko quickly finished wiping down the table she was at and walked over, broom in hand.
While the door was open, the owner was nowhere to be found. Aiko called out several times but received no response. The trembling returned even sooner than before and Aiko found herself sweeping the floor of the shop just to pass the time. With the floor swept, Aiko picked up a feather duster and began working her way around the shop. “Madame? Madame? I would like to speak with you for a moment please? Madame?”
Getting no response, Aiko continued to clean until she reached the back of the store. There she found a door cracked open slightly. She knocked on the door softly, but the force of the knock was enough to open the door. The storeroom was absolutely filthy! There were boxes caked in dust and cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. Aiko’s eye twitched seeing the mess and found herself frozen in place. Time just seemed to stop for her as her eyes darted around. The trembling was stronger than ever and without the ability to move, Aiko soon found her lips trembling as well. After what seemed like an eternity, though it was only ten minutes, a familiar voice was heard behind Aiko. “I see you’ve returned my dear. Did the costume go over well with your friends?”
Two large, feminine hands gripping Aiko’s dainty little shoulders as the voice of the owner began again. “True to my word, if you’d like to return the outfit, simply turn around and walk through the door. I’ll get your old dress as well as the new dress. However, if you enjoy the outfit, I’ll let you keep it and will not charge you any money. The choice is yours.”
The owner stepped back and for the first time in what felt like an hour, AIko found her feet working again. She could feel beads of sweat forming on her forehead as she turned to the door. She took one step forward but turned her head to look at the storeroom again. It was so messy… so filthy… so desperately in need of a good cleaning. She really should clean it up. The trembling was unbearable now as Aiko pulled her foot back again. The owner walked through the door leaving Aiko to make her decision.
At the end of the day, three men walked into the shop looking for their friend. The shop owner told them she hadn’t seen that person since she came back from lunch. The men left, figuring Aiko must have just gone home. Turning the sign from open to closed, the owner shut off the store lights and walked to the back room. “My dear, it is closing time. Shall we head home?”
Aiko, stood proudly at the front of the storeroom, which was now spotless and curtseyed. “Of course, Madame. Once there I will draw a bath for you. Would you prefer chicken or fish tonight?”
The owner grinned. “We can skip dinner tonight my dear maid. A bath sounds lovely though.”
