Here we go!Falling back on old themes again; this was actually sort of inspired by the colour of my new iphone case ^_^

As I mentioned, I used to play Clans in BattleTech, so my first impression of this beauty was an OmniMech based on the old King Crab mech design--weird, almost tank-like body, designed to be hard to hit and deflect shells and missiles off its hull. Definitely a "missile boat" design like the Archer--LRM-20 in each shoulder (that's a 20-shot long-range missile launcher for those who don't speak BT), with short- and medium-range missile launchers in each side of the torso. Add in anti-missile defenses and decent-sized lasers in the arms (I'd aim for large extended range or pulse laser in each arm, mounted inside the forearm, with a back-up medium pulse laser mounted next to it.)
If we're talking Robotech/Macross-type mecha anime, I'd say it probably packs several different types of missile launchers in the shoulders and side torso again, with lasers or plasma cannons in each forearm mounted under the "bracer" plates in a pop-up mount.
Either way, this is not a machine that I would want to take a mech up against unless I knew what it was capable of, because it looks like the proverbial tough nut to crack!

I like the razor sharp edges thing you've got going with shapes of the robot. You know that headpiece reminds me about something I've seen in mass effect series.

The complexity through simplicity is always so awesome in your pieces. On Friday and I were discussing the slight color distortion you get on some of your edges and we were hypothesizing how you do it. Care to share? We came up with some techniques that come close to simulating it but couldn't quite nail it.

Um, so when I've finished a piece I'll flatten it, and then I get the colour shift by using the smudge tool very slightly in just the red channel. (you can do it on the others as well of course but red looks best).
