Description On my old account ~hotterface I made this idea for a continuation of a scene in prime. Well I have finally finished it and it feels awesome. While I do feel I still I need improvement.

Also I know the arm cannon is on the wrong side. I was going to flip it when I was done but when I did it looked weird. It might be because I was working on it so long I got used to what it looked like. Another thing I was going to do was use the dodge and burn tool on samus. I decided against it cause I was proud of what I had done without it. Same goes for desaturating it.

Anyway I hope you all like it.

metroid and all characters in it are property of nintendo

This is really awesome! One of my favorite parts of the game. Nice job with all of the colors and perspective and everything!

Well thank you, been a while since I made that.  So much so it looks in need of a lot of improvement.  Hopefully I can find the time and get back into art again and hopefully do the idea more justice.

The cannon on the right arm is for Wii version. The cannon on the left is for GC. The Legend of Metroid: Corruption Princess!

Wow, this design was spectacular! You portrayed one of the coolest moments of the game. For that alone, is too many. But you used a very special angle, really cool! It was great!

I didn't even notice the arm cannon being on the wrong side until you mentioned it. I think the composition really works that way though, cause (since we read left to right), the piece that Samus is holding onto as well as Samus' pose helps to lead the eye right into the image if that makes sense

Great stuff! Love the energy and lighting

Love, love it! The perspective is mind blowing as is the sense of action and the epic struggle between foes. Yeah so what if the arm cannon is on her left hand ( if u dont wanna flip don't) it's still a great piece. I love the intensity, and great coloring! cool, hope to see more stuff like this on your new account! !

Awesome scene and it's very well done... but it's also extrmely busy. I cannot focus onto either Samus or Ridley when it all blends together. :/ It's too busy and there's no distinction between Samus, Ridley and the background which would make a difference between a good and amazing picture.

If you were to say, darken the background so much that both Samus and Ridley pop out nicely, or use another type of contrast such as less colors or blur and sharpen, it would enhance the image feel. :3 Samus I kinda good as she is, but Ridley especially is really hard to distinguish from the bg.

I really do agree with everything you said. I was going to desaturate samus to fit the game more but decided against it. I think ridley was the hardest subject of it all cause all I had as reference was the game itself. I'm mostly talking about color. The same can be said with the background, plus I'm not so good with backgrounds. Then there is the lighting which I had a plan for but kinda winged it at the same time. All around somewhat confusing. I think the thing that might be making it that way the most is the sheet of ice behind it all.

Other than that I think you are hinting at me to fix these problems no

Heh, I can imagine it would take way too much time. I understand, I wouldn't either. ;D

Yeah I made the dumb mistake of getting to far into it before making sure things worked. I am honestly thinking of redoing it though when I don't know as I'm working on other things. I may forget actually but meh.

Also forgot to say thanks for the fave

Such an incredible amount going on this this picture...yet it's all so finely detailed.

What a great action pic of our fav bounty hunter.

You've actually stumbled upon one way some artists like to self-critique, the "horizontal-flip test." Flipping an image horizontally can often make it just different enough that the artist doesn't recognize it as their own work, and is able to notice flaws that fondness and familiarity tend to gloss over.

Yeah I was up last night, this morning whatever, watching youtube and happened upon that flip test. It kind of annoyed me but now I know and thanks for reinforcing it. Though I'm still confused somewhat how it works. Do you just flip it and fix what is wrong?

burkeonthesly In reply to Mr-Corr [2009-11-10 21:55:30 +0000 UTC]

If you want, you certainly can. The way it works is, in the course of making the piece, your mind gets used to seeing it a certain way, and tends to gloss over little bits here and there. It's sort of like the way people reading a familiar passage tend not to notice if one word has been changed. When you flip it, the image is unfamiliar enough that your mind can't just skim over it, but has to actually work at seeing it again. And then, yes, if you're so inclined, you fix whatever seems wrong.

Thanks for the tip and to bad I didn't learn that sooner, imagine my nerdyness about the cannon being on the wrong side.

Yeah the background, which you don't really see much of, was the hardest part. I suck at backgrounds.
