Description One of the classic comic book heroines, frequently featured in Damsel In Distress situations on her covers was The Black Cat. The ORIGINAL Black Cat, Linda Turner, who was actually the star of several comics from Harvey Comics (Yes, of Casper, the Friendly Ghost fame), as early as 1941.

The image here is adapted from the first issue of a 1981 reprint series, which used art by the original artist of The Black Cat, Al Gabrielle.

Over the years, The Cat's boots, mask & gloves would change color schemes back & forth. I went for the red gloves here. The boots would've been red as well, but the original picture actually had her bootless.

I worked very hard on this to get it as close in spirit to the feel of the picture, and I have to admit that I'm proud of this piece.

Enjoy.

Great image, she's one of my favorites along with both versions of Phantom Lady, back in the day when a heroine just couldn't go 1-2 pages w/o being konked on the head or chloroformed and tied up, hehe... The old costumes were such classics and still look great today, such a timeless heroine!

It's a good thing she is bootless, wouldn't want to get all that crud in those sexy boots, especially since I'm sure she'll be rescued!

Thanks (& thanks for faving it)! I'll be looking into some more vintage characters, like the Phantom Lady, The Blonde Phantom & so on.

First, as anyone who knows me or my character can attest, I love the Black Cat. This cover is an incredible recreation, and I like it a lot. (And since I know what model you used, I'm even more excited)

I had to change the eye color, because for some reason, the eyes didn't seem to change direction and had a wee glazed look to them whenever I rendered them, no matter how I posed them. Tis strange. Actually, you have a lot to do with this piece, because when I asked you about Halloween costumes, you mentioned her. When I found the cover, I couldn't resist trying my hand at re-creating it. So thank you so much for your continued inspiration.
