Description Check out this cyber-ninja goodness!  I'm actually quite proud of this render and will say that it's arguably my best quality one to date.  I rendered this one last week from the time of posting as opposed to a few months ago like some of my previous renders.  But now that I've amassed some cool materials and lights, plus have a better overall understanding of how to use Daz, I was able to create this sexy Asian cyber-assassin!

I was just tinkering around, but I really like how she came out.  There's a very good chance that you may see more of her in the near future!

She reminds me of Shadow from Eternal Champions.  Any influence?

Other than the name, not intentionally.  But she was definitely my favorite character from that game!

And she had her own title.  What did you think of it?

Oh wow...I almost forgot about her spin-off title!  I don't think I ever played it, and after googling it for a refresher, I don't think I missed anything!

Yeah, there was that other Eternal Champions spinoff for Game Gear, and I could have checked that out, but definitely not Shadow's.  I'd still like to see more of her cosplay, though.

Yeah, it would be cool to see more cosplay or fan art in general of Shadow!

Daaaaaaamn!  Nice!

Love the pose and her expression!  She's "grounded" nicely (not floating or pressed down too far), and the outfit is awesome as well!  Nice job!

Thanks!  I really like how this one turned out!  I have noticed that I have a problem with "grounding" my figures...just when I think I have it and I fully render the image, either they end floating or their toes go through the ground!

Where are some of the places that you go to learn more tips and tricks when it comes to rendering?  Specifically in regards to lighting.

If you render w/ iRay, and have it draw the ground, I find it takes some test renders to get it right.  If you have placed your character on something that has a "ground", I find using the Perspective View, or another created camera, to be helpful.  Get the camera right down to her feet, and adjust "Y" position until it looks like a natural collision between feet and ground (you may have to adjust foot bend, toe bend, twist, side-side, etc.).  Just remember to switch back to your render camera!   I've accidentally rendered many feet!

Lighting is super hard.  At least, for me.  I tend to try different light sets until I find one I like, and stay with it .  Best thing that works for me is to drop the resolution of the render (for speed), make many test renders until the light setup looks good, then go high-res for a "final" render.

That's what I've been doing with lighting as well.  I have quite a few light sets that I've purchased over the last year, and some of them I can't figure out how to get to work properly.  The whole scene just renders in all black.

I'm gonna have to use some of those tips for getting the feet just right.

How much RAM do you have on your computer?  I think that's the next move that I need to do; upgrading my RAM to at least 12 gbs...I'm running with 6 now and I can't attempt to render any elaborate environments with my characters without my laptop freezing up.

If you are rendering in 3Delight, go to this thread: Need Light, Shaders and Hair help for Daz3d .  Scroll down in the comments and look for one from .  She made a free light setup that she links to in the comment.  AWESOME light set!  I used it in many renders.

If you are rendering in LuxRender (via Luxus or Reality), go here for a good light set: Curved Panel Mesh Light with Aiming Camera

For iRay, I used bought light sets ... Let me take a look and find out which set I use ... I can post a link to the DAZ store.

Rendering is my hobby ... By trade, I am a software engineer, so to support multiple virtual machines on my PC, I have 32GB of RAM, and a Core i7

Thanks for the tips!  I downloaded those lights, and I need to upgrade my RAM...I don't think I can afford 32GBs, but perhaps I can get up to 12!

Since you are going to be so kind as to remember my 3Delight rig after all this time, I thought I'd go ahead and point out this really good info on IRay lighting by   [Tutorial] Three-Point Lighting In IrayI've covered this at more than sufficient length elsewhere, but I still get asked about lighting in Iray, so I wanted to do a quick set of text basics for those who have trouble ferreting out the relevant bits from the videos.
Here is a reference set of lights and a Sunny 16 preset you can download and use for practice.  These are the lights I use as starters in 90% of scenes now.  If you want to know more about tone mapping I've gone into that here as well.
THREE-POINT LIGHTING: WHAT IS IT?
Wikipedia covers the photographic theory of three-point lighting here, if you would like to know more about that.  The short version i  The three-point lighting rig that is in this can be used for most initial renders in IRay, and can be tuned for others. It also has very good information about setup, and why things are the way they are. I personally find that in a straight on render, you can point all the lights at roughy the model's chest (meaning the upper rim of the light is between the neck and head) and set the white light to 35%, the blue light to 25%, and the orange light to 45% to get a nicely lit model whose skin is clearly visible in high resolution.
