The sad eyes look is famous amongst these breed of dogs and they use to make me sad just looking at them and in this picture you captured the look perfectly on *mimi*. With everything else that you have added it doesn't give me the impression of any kind of sadness at all. Thats a good thing.
The way you have added all the other animals and the goodies and the hat on this dog, tells me that *mimi* is not unhappy at all . I can see that pure joy must be her thought in this picture
She has her animal friends and lots to eat and looks peaceful and relaxed,so that is what makes this picture happy to me. Even though she has passed on,it is not an unhappy feeling that you have portrayed in this picture. It's the wonderful memory of a friends beloved Pet that you have honored and I think it's beautiful!
The position of the other animals is superb...not crowed and not to far apart. A closeness thats comfortable and safe. . I adore the ribbon carriers...Butterflies and Dragonflies that you mixed in to have the feeling of animals and insects joining together to honor the Lovely Mimi.A smooth background mixed with the front fun goodies is excellent. You captured a way to add alot in front by adding a smooth and lovely background and it looks great! I look at that bowl of goodies in front of Mimi and I want to lick my screen to taste it. LOL.
In Gods House we are all the same ,so no matter what Mimi looked like in life, what matters is that she was happy and gave joy to your friend and was loved unconditionaly and you showed this in the beautiful piece of art!
I like both the pictures, because each one has it's own look and feel to it. Well to me at least.
Rest in Peace sweet Mimi.

Wow.. Thank you every so much for your wonderful critique. I really appreciate every word that you wrote. The death of Mimi really made my friend sad. So I tried to put a lot of joyfulness in this work to comfort her as much as I can. With all the delicious food and lovely companions, I hope it will decrease the sadness in Mimi's eyes somehow.

Oh..Thank you so much, dear Jocelyne, for the permanent feature on your profile page. It's truly my big honor to have my work showing there with other lovely artworks from various artists based on your beautiful photos. Your kind support is much appreciated. I'd love to use your wonderful photos in my art again in the feature. You know what? Your wonderful gallery inspires me to raise squirrels and chipmunks. (I decided to raise squirrels and chipmunks instead since all my cats have been eaten by the pythons.) I hang 2 baskets on the trees in front of my door, and I put bananas or other fruits there. I love watching them to come pick the food every morning. They are not tame enough to get food from my hand or eating on my feet like in your photos. I don't know how long it takes. What's your secret?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JocelyneR In reply to Mr-Ripley [2011-08-08 06:01:08 +0000 UTC]

All the pleasure is mine, really!
I would love it too if you were using other of my photos of course but, please, don't feel obliged to!
Aww, I am so glad to hear that you are raising squirrels and chipmunks, they will get used to you sooner or later if you don't stress them by looking them in the eyes and if you don't go towards them yourself.
I would suggest to you to have food with you not far from those trees and to call them (try to imitate their cry... ). You send some food they like towards them far enough first, then closer and closer until they come near you and take the food from your fingers.
But, it might take quite a long time before they do so, my secret is very simple (simple but not so easy, it depends on you): PATIENCE!

Btw, I am so very sorry for the loss of your cats, what an awful thing to happen!

Mr-Ripley In reply to JocelyneR [2011-08-08 09:03:23 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much for your useful suggestion. I've been trying all what you said. My whistle might be awful that made them run away instead of coming closer, but I might have looked at their eyes too much. Yeah it takes time, patience and maybe pretending too. .
Thanks for your sympathy about my cats. It's too bad that I can't have my favorite kind of pet because of the kind of animal that I'm afraid of most.

JocelyneR In reply to Mr-Ripley [2011-08-12 08:49:52 +0000 UTC]

Oh, don't use a whistle! And patience, patience... It took me e whole months at first but after that, they came to me easily. It is worth it!
Yes, I am very sad about your cats, I would be so scared of this animal too!

Aww, you are very much welcome, sweetie.

The sad look on the little Cocker's face is heartbreaking. I know she wasn't really sad but her droopy eyes make her look it. This could easily be turned into one of those singing birthday cards Hallmark sells. I can literally hear Lesley Gore's "It's My Party and I'll Cry If I want To!" play when I look at this. Here is the song on YouTube if you've never heard it: [link]

You have done a beautiful job blending all of your stock images to make a final cohesive artwork. Nothing looks like it is out of place proving that you got the lighting and shading down perfectly. As a stock provider I have seen many uses of my stock where the artist appears to have not even try to blend all of their images together so it looks like an image pasted on a background.

I would love to see what kind of adorable artwork you could create using any of my dogs. If you are ever wanting to create another dog based manipulation here are links to my babies. You are more than welcome to use any of them. You are welcome to use any of my stock, honestly.

Each of my dogs has their own unique story written in the "artist description" beneath their photos.

My beloved boxer, Miss Asia Marie: [link] & [link] Sadly she passed away nearly a year ago. August 11th she passed away in my arms after a very short battle with cancer. She was the love of my life
My rescued American Pitbull Terrier, China Rose: [link] & [link] She was a stray that we took in off the street. There was evidence that she may have been in the beginning training stages of becoming a fighting pitbull as her soul has been crushed and it's taken us nearly 2 years to repair the damage done. When we found her and took her in off the street we discovered she was pregnant!
My American Pitbull Terrier and Back & Tan Coonhound Cross, Moxie: [link] She is one of the two puppies that we kept from China Rose's litter. She's our big, clumsy, klutz of a goober goofball sweetheart dog. She is big and beautiful and has the most addicting smile.
My American Pitbull Terrier and Bloodhound Cross, Pixie: [link] She is our most precious love. She's a blind, one-eyed little girl who is such an inspiration to so many. I am writing a children's book based upon her story (that is briefly summed up in the "artist description" under her photo). I am also about to create a website to promote that book and will have a page devoted to artwork that people have created using her image or have created in honour of her.

Sorry for writing such long comments lol If you read all of this then I will hug you!

And it's very nice idea about the Hallmark's singing birthday card. It reminds me of my old days that I went to bookstore looking and listening to those cards all day to buy for my friend. Hope someone from Hallmark will find this work for making their card someday. I have never heard that song before. It came before I was born.

Thank you very much for your kind compliment. I really appreciate it. Actually, it should be posted in the critique section.
Thank you much again for your permission to use your stock. Lots of interesting images there. I may use them when I find something fits my work in the future. My English is not good enough to read or write long message, but I have read all of yours.
P.S. Sorry for your loss of your boxer, Miss Asia Marie. May I ask how old she was when she died? I wonder how long an ordinary boxer can live in his life.
