Description
Y'all knew that I'd be crawling back to the Sassy Moon Vamp for Spooky Season. It's just how I wanted to draw her. This time, I went with a sort of tribal, gothic, countess-like singer. While I'm not sure if it'll ever get involved with her powers, I'd imagined Mary singing with the ghosts of long-extinct megafauna. And I may or may not have been inspired by "Life On Our Planet" for this entire thing. I even wrote a short story around this piece!
Picture this; You’re walking home from a long few hours in downtown. You’re a bit tired, and you just wanna crash down onto your bed with the first possible chance. As you walk down a foggy trail, with the full moon looming in the sky, you try to find your way through the thick haze. All of a sudden, your ears catch the sound of what appears to be… singing? As you get confused, illuminated silhouettes dance and lurk within the trees. With confusion setting in, a lone being flaps into view, landing on your head as you get surprised. As you slowly look up, you find that the creature in question appears to be some sort of pterosaur, to be more specific (If you didn’t knew before), the species that this lil’ guy belongs to is Anurognathus. As you question how in the world an animal from 145 million years ago is right in front of you, along with why it’s going in a radiant indigo glow, you hear more, strange sounds from the forest. The Anurognathus hops off your head and flies off, and for some reason, you decide to follow it into the deeper reaches of the forest. Much to your bewilderment and awe, you see more prehistoric creatures like the tiny pterosaur, all glowing in the same indigo radiance and phasing through the trees; Millipedes as long as a small car, ground-dwelling birds with large beaks similar to war axes, huge ground sloths, shark-like creatures that basically had buzzsaws for lower jaws, various critters that wouldn’t look out of place from a tide pool on an alien planet, a few faces that seem more familiar to you like a T. Rex, and even a few wooly mammoths. As more prehistoric animals pop in from the trees, the singing you heard earlier gets stronger as you get closer and closer, until suddenly, you fall into the ground after tripping on a pebble. The singing stops, as if it was interrupted by something. As you get right back up, you notice a pretty thicc vampire lady with red hair, looking at you in brief surprise.
???: Oh! U-uh, didn’t notice you there.
*The vampiress is wearing a dark, purplish dress with an open top that hugs her massively pudgy body, with the bottom touching the ground. Alongside things like 3 teeth hanging on her pointy ears like earrings, a couple of iridescent feathers placed behind her left ear, the gloves connected to the dress having a tribal-like snake wrapped around both sides respectively. Just then, you realize, with the vampiress’ red hair, that she looks a bit familiar…
Mary: I know you got a bit confused by all of this, but you wanna hear Miss Maryanna sing her heart out?
Just then, the name “Maryanna” struck your mind. It’s then you realize that “Oh yeah. I live in the same town as the flame-haired guy, his massive dog-monster friend, and his thicc vampire sisters. The question now is why one of them is in her dress, along with where the animals came from. You then ask her.
Mary: Oh, these guys? Given the time of year we’re now in, I felt like practicing a bit of singing. The animals you see here are actually ghosts that were brought in by my voice. That, along with this baby…
Mary then brings out a book used for summoning the spirits of the dead.
Mary: And that’s how I got these guys here with me! We’ve got some time left before we wrap it up for the night. Care to join us?
After a bit of hesitant thinking, you say yes… only to be greeted by Mary’s plump chest, delighted to have a guest.
Mary: AWESOME! Now that you’re here, time to enjoy the show.
Mary then gets back to sing in her jazzy voice, with you using her belly as a pillow. With the vampiress singing her out, the ghosts of the prehistoric megafauna she’s summoned for the night accompany the two of you. You might wanna brace yourself, this is gonna be a long night…
Yeah... this was weird to make, but I still had fun with it. I could write more short stories like this for future pieces, but I had a blast with this entire thing. And given how we still have some time left before Spooky Season ends, I'm hoping to get more JTPE character doodles out, with a couple of new faces to the Test family...
