HUD Evolution BETAThis is almost an identical port of my very popular HUD Evolution theme on Windows 7. I did consider not releasing this theme as initially I was going to make it a premium theme but could not justify charging anyone for a theme to use on Windows 8 when it will most likely become useless once Windows 8.1 is released, anyway the short of it is, I feel sorry for all you Windows 8 users so I am giving it to you all for free, it comes with a complete installer, just select the options you want to install, but make sure you read what each option does and don't just select all of them.
I recommend running sfc /scannow before you install and you should probably run the installer as administrator, especially if you want to use any of the post install, system restore options.

hi um i have a problem i downloaded this them on windows 8.1 and didn't realize it was for windows 8 and installed the program and now I cant access controle panal to get rid of the theme i cant delete the theme, i cant access command promt as admin but i can just by normal and it comes up with the error code (file system error 65535) i cant access any of my controle panel either please help...

Hmm.. after installing this (which installed smoothly without error) my sounds seemed to become softer/blurry, after system restoring (to the minute before I installed this theme) my sounds are back to normal, and after I install this again, sounds become soft/blur again, any help?
Also, after Install > Restart > Theme will be automatically chosen > Restart the sound of my laptop is still soft/blurry (the volume is the same, all sound settings are the same)
Also, when installing I didn't check the sounds option, but it installed it for me anyway, I think that cause my speakers to go haywire.

This theme is not for 8.1, it will only work correctly on Windows 8, you also need to make sure you have installed all the things I mentioned in my artists comments, especially the part about installing UxStyle to bypass the theme signature.
If you want to try a version I updated to work with 8.1 try this one www.mediafire.com/download/rm5β¦ be warned though, this was just an early attempt and should only be used on a VM, this is still not a stable release and there are known problems with using the modern apps as well as the install failing for them.

It sort of works, the start menu and jump lists wont work without SIB+ and even then the start menu is a little messed up.

Open a command prompt as administrator and type sfc /scannow to restore all modified files, you may also need to delete the icon cache after to remove any left over icons.

hi, i've installed this theme on my "windows 8" step-by-step as you have said but still i'm having trouble with the "start menu"....it's all just a 'grey rectangle' showing no options or icons, just a blank grey rectangle.....please help.
also i want to know that how am i suppose to uninstall this theme if i want to??

The start menu will only work using Start s Back as it's the only program that uses the correct msstyles images, Start8 will not be supported for any of my themes, for the taskbar you need to have it set to always combine if you want the middle part of the taskbar displayed.

just one last thing...if i ever want to uninstall this theme, how am i suppose to do it? bcoz the problem is that, when i goto control panel>uninstall a program; i can't find any program named "hud evolution" or anything Β

The theme can be removed just like any other, just delete it from C:\Windows\Resources\Themes the icons and other system changes can be restored using sfc /scannow or sfc /scanfile, there are options for restoring any of the files in the installer, just run the installer as administrator and leave all the boxes unchecked and then go to the post install screen where you will have options to restore a single file or all, there is also the clear icon cache option if you have left over icons after you have restored the files.

I have a working update but I want to remake it again and make sure it all works 100% again, if you like you can try the old one I got working but I would recomend first trying it in a VM and if you do plan on using it on a live setup make sure you have created a restore point and have everything backed up in case something goes wrong www.mediafire.com/download/rm5β¦

So here is the issue, i uninstalled all apps required for the Theme to include the theme itself, rebooted and then went down the list to in the order you suggested. After reboot everything seemed to have worked except when I try to re-select the Theme by right clicking on the desktop, personalize all i get it the window frame but the center where the different theme are is blank with a message that the page failed to load.Β The same happens when I click on system properties.Β I am sure it is something minor but I am not sure.Β Any suggestions?

Already got 8.1 and have all my Windows 8 themes working fine on there as well as a fully working start menu and bottom or top details pane.

cool mr. grim .. i tried all your windows themes over the years on virtualcustom... i love all your themes... but now i dont care about themeing up windows 8.. i rather have a choice of "window manager" like you can do with FreeBSD you know.. but i do actually like the newer startmenu than the older one... but since when i ever even care about the start menu anyhow since windows 95... i always pin it on the taskbar or have a desktop icon.. to me the startmenu for people that like to play with the mouse and get things done slower.. as i like to be productive i rather use hotkeys or what we call in UNIX term key bindings... but hey i mean your theme is very nice and i'm glad its free, but i like the defeault stuff and adding all those programs and stuff just gonna slow ur computer for what to have windows 7 feel to it Β ? ur better off just using windows 7

How can I make feilds in windows white. For example, chat windows and internet explorer fields are black/charcoal, so I can't see the black text.

There is no easy way to do in Windows 8 now MS decided to remove the advanced appearance settings, you would need to make a .theme file and add the color values you want to apply or change the Window metric colors using Windows Style Builder.

If you want to uninstall the theme go to the personalization options and select the default Aero theme, log off then log on again then just delete it from C:\Windows\Resources\Themes
If you want to uninstall the icons and extras then open a command prompt as Administrator and type sfc /scannow or run the installer as Administrator and don't select any of the check boxes and use the post install options to restore all system files, this will also clear the icon cache, otherwise you will have to do it manually, here is a tutorial to rebuild the icon cache [link]
