Description I've been working on this for a couple of weeks during my breaks at work and FINALLY got it done! I love Monarch Butterflies. They are so beautiful.

This one is drawn with Crayola Twistable Crayons.... except the antennae which was done with Crayola colored pencils. Crayons ftw!

Thank you very much.

I think the crayons do that because it's hard to get sharp lines with them and they always end up looking a tad fuzzy when you draw with them.

thats very true - the paper you use can also make a difference in the quality of the crayons though too...i've found.

That is most definitely true. Crayons are very specific to paper. I prefer to use the smoothest paper I can find.

Twistable crayons? Have not heard of! And yes, you've done a really lovely job with them - it looks quite a bit like a photo from the thumbnail

Thank you!

Twistable Crayons: [link]

They are pretty neat. They are just crayons in a plastic tube... and you twist the end to push them up. No more problems with crayons breaking. They do seem to be a tad firmer than normal crayons though. I wish they made them in more colors. XD

Huh! That's really cool! I have an oldschool box of crayons that I got a few years ago, but none of the fun cool kiddy stuff - I used to have a ton of them, but I lost it all when I moved out :b

Are you serious!! If only I could so that with crayons!! This is amazing. I can see why it would take so long to finish. I bet it was fun though. I always love coloring with my nieces and nephews with crayons. Great job, beautiful work!!

Thank you very much. I really think that anyone could do this if they want to... but most people don't really seem to consider crayons to be a viable medium for art. Brand matters though with crayons. Crayola is the only crayon that I have found that has the color richness and consistency to do this with.

That seems like a possibility. I paint with acrylics mostly. Have been experimenting with colored pencils lately but I'm not very good. I might have to look into getting some crayons because I love how it looks!

As with anything, it just takes a little practice. the technique for blending crayons is very similar to colored pencils.

Oh yes I am sure. I just did this [link] today with colored pencils. Better than I thought but still need practice
And the guy in this [link] as well to practice shading.

Thank you. You too can have these coloring skills. All you need are some crayons and coloring books for practice. Once you get the hang of using crayons to turn your coloring books in to fully shaded, elaborate pictures, it's easy peasy from there. --> [link]
