Description -Newton Abbot 1962,

The final gathering of some of the finest engines to roll through Newton Abbot's sheds, before decline overtook the shed, and they were transferred elsewhere.

Joe the J88 - Was transferred up to gateshead for a few months before withdrawal, but was later sold onto the national coal board until 1972
Caitlyn the Jinty - Newton's last resident to leave the shed, as trains became less and less, more work fell down to her as a result of engines being transferred, until the work later, an accident involving a mis-timed valve in her cylinders resulted in her withdrawal, and spent her final years on BR service as a stationary boiler.
Lizzie the 43XX - Was one of the prime goods engines at Newton until September 1962, before being transferred to Northampton, and withdrawal in 1964, but was purchased directly from service by the Didcot preservation society and to this day has remained as so.
Louise the 45XX - As one of the many engines handling the commuter trains, her days were numbered as DMU units began to roll in, finding her work on a few branches, until her lifeline was sent to her, in the form of a railtour paying it's respects to the line she was working on, the enthusiasts so pleased with her run, they decided to snatch her up for preservation, though today she is on static display in the sheds of didcot.
Julie the Black 5 - The engine that you'd rarely see as she was constantly jumping from one shed to another, being kept busy with all sorts of trains from parcels trains to oil tankers, however Julie was one of the few black 5's that carried on until the final days, seeing her withdrawal on December the 5th, 1967, today she is owned by Lancashire based railwayman, Ian Riley, currently under overhaul.
Duchess the 2P - A regular visitor, but not seen as much, she would take a passenger run/pilot another train up to Newton after double heading the "Pines Express" she saw her time until the end of her class, being one of the last ones to go, she was snatched up in the nick of time by the North Western Railway, although on display at Welsworth, plans are made to return her to steam in 2014.
Hercule the 4200 - One of the many heavy goods engines, Hercule was assigned with the heaviest of trains and the china clay traffic from the mines near by. Hercule served his last days working the lickey, alongside jinties, panniers, and a 9F. Acquired for preservation in 1965 by the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway, he is currently on static display, although there is no word on his return to steam as of yet.

Well, this is the fruits of my labour alongside my lovely lady, with some of the faces edited by ~PercyTailsOreos And the locomotives done by yours truely, along with shading and stuffs.

Righto, Imma head off to sleep. I hope you all got through New years, hang over free *snicker* Nnnnope. Couldn't keep a straight face.... XD

Take care all, expect me home in a few days.

-Joe the Joj

So Caitlyn became a stationary boiler? That sounds like a sad fate.

I wonder what would happen if ALL these engines got preserved but ended taking residence on Sodor instead. I would imagine Lizzie not settling on the railway and being rude towards The Fat Controller's engines.
