#9: Sandslash

There’s a story behind why Sandslash is on this list, and it’s a story I very much enjoy telling.
One day, in Pokémon Black 2 (my all-time favorite Pokémon game, btdubs), I was in the Desert Resort looking for a Sandile, because I needed one for the Nimbasa City gym.
I didn’t find a Sandile, but I did find a Sandshrew, so I thought to myself “what the heck, I’ll use Sandshrew instead”.
I caught him, named him Sanic, and put him on my team.
Then I went straight to the Nimbasa gym without doing any prior level-grinding.
Because of that, Sanic was, like 5 levels below the Pokémon the trainers in the gym had.

But he still managed to kick some serious ass, and by the time I defeated all the gym trainers, he had evolved into a Sandslash and reached a level at which he could easily defeat the gym leader.
And that’s exactly what he did.
Ever since that experience, Sandslash has been one of my favorite Pokémon.
