I like the newest Knoppix 5.3.1 the Compiz Fusion 3D graphics are the best of any Linux distro ever

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MrMcMican In reply to Alembic-Lynx [2008-04-25 03:15:34 +0000 UTC]

Yeah that looks pretty slick! I should probably put Linux on my windows machine.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Alembic-Lynx In reply to MrMcMican [2008-04-25 04:28:14 +0000 UTC]

the dual boot can be tricky some of the programs like Ubuntu and Kubuntu offer free downloads and even free ship it Live CD's with auto installers that wil partition you disk for you and install MBR Grub and dual boot other distros of Linux you have to set it up all manual on the partiton etc3 and swap and it gets tricky so my recommendation go w Kubuntu or Ubuntu they have support and always are upgrading and is a totally free program ..some people offer the service of downlading the disks and burning them and charging $1 plus 4 or $5 for shipping but with Kubuntu Ship It they will actualy send you a totally free program no charge even for shipping a complete Operating System FREE

I have 2 each of the current distributions on the way Hardy Heron vs 8:04 in both the Kubuntu ( KDE Linux Desktop ) and Ubuntu ( Gnome Desktop ) version 1 for me and 1 each for my neighbor it is well worth the look see..This newest version has 3D Compiz Fusion Graphics ( used to be called Beryl or Emerald )

I use both the Photomatix and have a paid for life subscription to that and the free qptfsgui from sourceforge which is very wild especially the fattal algorhytym see my earlier journals for a fre link to it ..Its hard to do HDR when all three images are 36MB each but I do use the from 1 raw image version and that works great

Alembic-Lynx In reply to MrMcMican [2008-04-25 00:02:04 +0000 UTC]

the studio had an H2 with Phase back ...when I first experimented with the earlier Photomatix vs 2.3 I use Fuji S2 and shoot aTIFF now and convert to PNG or JPEG
