actually, the reason people are walking is because the oil has run out and this is sort of an Arcology, a place where people live and grow food and try to exist in a civilized method without using oil. Oil is why Mcdonalds can afford to sell you a quarterpounder with cheese and extra large fries and a Large Coke. All that crap food is grown on factory farms, with Natural gas for the Nitrogen fertilizer, oil based insectisides, and huge amounts of fule to ship it from all over the country and the world. Saudi arabia can only promise about 20 years more at its increased rate of pumping. China is conflicting with our International addiction to oil, and the prices will only grow up as they begin to rival our growth. I'm trying to visualize what A good result of changing our ways would look like.

what you say add's another level to this image! The fuel has gone and man is left without one thing it seems to dpened on when we really don't need it. I'd say airtravel would become a little harder and slower but it would still be possable.

the wonderful mix of old and new mixes well and the whole idea that this is a world without fuel gives meaning to that rustic feal, as if with our step back in technology we have also had a step back in ideas and style. Then again retro syles do come back around
