Description Life isn't always easy. Never will be, even for me and my former friend Artyom.

We thought the world revolved around us; we were its kings, Gods. Hell, we figured at one point nothing in existence would bring to our knees.

Pfft. How stupid of me to think of that....

2023, 3 hours after contact with Delta Wolf pack was lost

Artyom looked at his watch, nervous, and glanced over his shoulder, wondering if he friend was done admiring himself in the mirror. Annoyed, the Russian walked towards the bathroom door and tapped on it.

"Nathaniel, let's go. Quit playing with yourself and get out here."
Shortly after, Nathaniel walked out, wearing a tuxedo, well-groomed, and was apparently wearing a pair of sunglasses.

Snorting under his breath, Markensov yanked off the glasses, then handed it back to his friend. "You're not outdoors or blind, kiddo. You don't need them on"

Rubbing his ears from where his glasses were, Nathan took it back, and hung one arm over his shirt. "Thanks for nearly cutting off one of ears, minion."

In a blur, Artyom socked him in the arm, then turn in his heels and started walking, motioning Carrington to follow.

"Have you heard about what happened in the Atlantic Ocean, Artie? Some group of Armada troops disappeared and no one knows. Come to think of it, the last transmission they got was a part of-"

"Not now, Nathan, we're at a party, and we shouldn't get involved into military or political nonsense. That's not our interest."

"Bullshit, we're in an 'underground' war with Biotech Corporations, and you tell me to drop it? They're on the offense right now, and if we don't respond to it-"

"No, some of their captains, three I believe, has turned against them, and fighting back. They're losing more ground than they are gaining."

Yeah, but their 'captains' are gunning down are own. One of 'em goes by the name Jacob Laowitz, and he's slaughtering everyone of uniforms he finds. Fuck, even Armada troops can't bring this guy down, so how are going to get him?"

"we won't," Markensov responded calmly. "All we have to do is let him go on his rampage. He only sees Lamos Dreadnaughts a mere annoyance, and will focus his aggression on Biotech instead. Hmph, I can only imagine if Belderman's cowering under his desk right now. His previous subject wasn't able to kill him, but a captain knowing all the strengths and weakness of his mercs? And to add salt to the wound, the most ruthless of all three? He should have good reason to fear this man, Nathan, not us."

"doesn't help the fact he's on no ones' side but his own. Oh yeah, did you hear the news about a family in France getting killed? An all Valorkale raccoon family, only the youngest of two brothers survived. Uh, Sylvester James Cooper, I believe."

Artyom shifted uneasily to this news, and Nathaniel raised an eyebrow to his response. "Did you have something to do with this?" His voice, naturally a happy-go-lucky tone, quickly turned cold to his friend's body language.

"Absolutely not," Artyom said after what felt like at eternity. He turned to Carrington, an accusing look carved into his face.

"I've heard the news earlier, and it sickens me, why would a family be slain for nothing?"

"From what I've been hearing from Corporal Ramirez earlier, the father was an Armada trooper on leave to spend time with his family." After taking a sigh, "At least it's better than to come across a dead family after being away for a mission."

Markensov remained silent the entire time, then both of them reached the door to the main hall.

Carrington look at his watch, curious of how long it took for them. Only five minutes have passed since he left the previous room.

Artyom Markensov swung open the doors, and the two walked in to greet their guests.
