Sword of Nabar== CHAPTER ONE ==

There had been a moment when it all made perfect sense. It was when she was climbing down the mountainside, looking over the sweeping forest below. A fine mist rolled across the treetops, hawks soared through the valleys, and waves of green spread out for miles in all directions. At that moment Mercury understood the glimmer in her mother's eyes whenever she had told stories of her youth here.

Now she wasn't so sure. Between the interlocking stretches of swampland, and the poisonous spores that erupted at the slightest touch, the forest was a death trap, made worse by the expertly hidden hunting traps across every path.

S SummertimeYou hear her through the device in your ear:
I dropped it on the floor, grandpa.
You don't need to look down to know—
you trust her, you've had seventy-one summers before—
but you look down anyway,
not to see the stain, but her face.

That's all right, you coo,
like the doves and pigeons overhead.
I've dropped a lot of ice cream in my life.
Do you know what the best thing is?

When you look down, it's smiling up at you,
wishing farewell, and apologizing,
for it was so impatient it couldn't wait.

I look up at you and smile.
It isn't the worst thing,
to go out enjoyed,
but it's much better when
I'm a sign of love,

No, no! I want to go fishing.

       GRANDFATHER
Alright, alright. Did you get the bait?

Fallen Angel You came into my life like an angel,
A gift from God,
A present made from heaven,
A treasure not made from gold,
But a treasure made of love and fur,

We have been together for quite a while now,
I know you won't live with me till forever,
It crushed my fragile heart thinking about the day our little happiness might end,
I cradle you in my arms as you lick my face,
Then I hug you as death come upon you as you sleep,

I guess it's time to return you to  our maker,
My little fallen angel,
I hope you remember me till forever,

The CrossingA River Rock Remembers the Revolutionary War

You've lost your canteen, soldier – But he's gone.
Scratched silver shaves my face; a couple years
Should tease pimples of rust out from that shine –
The Delaware will mottle what is hers.

Through next summer, what does the river say?
"You've lost your canteen, solider." But he's gone,
And her memory's short – half-laughingly
Waves toss the bottle – There! —  and let it spin.

The oarsmen mutter something -- "Hessian"
Or "Hessians"? – one lad drinks near the side...
You've lost you canteen, solider...But he's gone
Back to his mates – Poor soul! You're ter SchizophreniaI have schizophrenia today I
I have schizophrenia (it’s painful)
What was I saying, what are you saying?
The teachers are going to experiment on
Experiment on us all, all of us
They use needles on us and they will kill us
Their experiments will kill us students
I forgot what I was saying, they hunt us
They hunt us down and experiment on
Experiment on us all, all of us
I have to leave school before they kill me too
But the voice says I must kill instead
Kill all the teachers before they kill us students
But I don’t want to kill anyone never, never
Instead I will run, run from the teachers, run
I think I am scared but I don’t You make me creep outThis is kind of deceiving
Can't tell the front from the rear
My first thought 'I'm leaving!'
And come back when it's all clear.

So many legs to creepily crawl
Looks flat like a ribbon
It will fall on me in the shower stall
That's an appalling vision!

I shriek and rush out nude as fuck
But it will drown in there, that's something I reject
I'm too kind, that's the monster luck
With some paper the house centipede I have to collect.

Once the way is clear I can have a shower
For my act I still feel badass and gritty
Not talking about a fear gives it power

The Curse of a ToyI always knew Jared would, one day, outgrow me.

I’m getting ahead of myself. Perhaps I should start at the beginning.

The point at which I became plastic and the point at which I met Jared felt as if they were two almost simultaneous events. Yet they were, in fact, decades apart. My plastic nature is one I struggle with. I am, you see, a toy in appearance only. My limbs and body are made of plastic, and am known to freeze when anything living enters the room. And yet I am sentient, I have a consciousness and memories and, at one time, a body. Sadly, I’ve learned the truth of my existence and it was not a pleasant journey.

You m a war between brothersOnce upon a time, there was a war between two brothers; a fight for immense power, a fight for the position of the God.
This story has been running in my family folklore for years, but only now is it being told.

Ikya, the Goddess of my clan, was worshipped by my ancestors day and night. She brought life to our little planet, Jeeva. She’d been there with us for centuries, but after 500 years of bringing life to our planet, she knew she wasn’t going to survive for long. If she wished, she’d have stopped death from arriving, but she had to go, to give way for what was going to happen next.

Her death bought starvation, draught (I Challenge You) Challenge“Mom, I think I’m sick. I can’t go to school today, even though I have that physics exam at one and that essay due in English.” That’s what I planned to say when she opened my door to wake me for school. What came out instead was…nothing, actually. Just silence.

The lights turned on, momentarily blinding me even though I had been expecting them, and in the flash of hazy light I saw my mom, my pear-shaped, plushie-loving mom, heading for the window to open my heavy black drapes. Black is my favourite, you see; the drapes, carpet, sheets, pillows and blankets were all black. She called it a ‘phase̵

Deadly WorldIt started slowly but the rich weren’t taking any chances. The domes started rising within the first week, with a million dollar buy in. My parents quickly liquefied all of their assets and cashed in all of their stocks and bonds, taking all of their retirement nest egg, pooling it together finally collecting their million. They moved us into the dome within a day and the ceiling was completed five days later.

Each section of the dome was ten feet thick and a solution poured on them that caused the melting of the two sections together permanently. You can see in from the outside however when looking out all you see is a mirror reflecti

It's funny, I knew someone was going to say something about this the literature entries were all very interesting and beautifully put together, but I didn't always personally feel that they met the challenge adequately or that the quality was strong enough. One of them came very close though!

In the end, there were numerous mediums in this contest, not all of them can make it into a winning position, as it is we have traditional art, digital art and artisan crafts that made it, so I'd say we were quite representative in the judging.
