Description Sorry, it's been a while! Anyway, here's a tutorial on the basic rules to drawing faces, affectionately named 'The Facial Features Grid'.

Later on, I'm going to go into more detail on drawing mouths, noses and eyes.

Next tutorial: DRAWING HORNS. (yay!)

Humm, well in my experience, messy is better. I usually draw things that look like ass and put all the detail into the colouring. Is there anything in particular you're having trouble with?

that's interesting. well i'm starting to get better at the noses and placing everything together, but thanks for asking :]

Well I hope it works for you~ I like your work, I've been having trouble sorting out my anthro faces, very very difficult with frontal perspective and I always seem to somehow mess up side views. Was interesting looking through your gallery.

Yeah, I always get the perportions wrong with side views. But thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed looking through my gallery. <3

This is extremely useful! I've been trying to find a tutorial with a grid, just because I have a huge problem with human face proportions. Usually my eyes are too big or my nose is too small or so on. So this is very very handy.

Thank you for making this!

You're welcome! I wanted to do one on a grid, because I couldn't really think of any other easy way to do it.

Holy goodness, that circle-square-triangle bit is pretty freakin' clever. This is probably one of the few all-around-useful facial structure tutorials I've seen on DA yet.

Ahaha, thank you! I was afraid it would be too basic, but a few people seem to have found it helpful.

Basics. Not new for me, but very nice and informative package.

Mrs-Robinson In reply to Juulia [2006-09-11 11:10:46 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, it's not new for very many people. Unfortunately, even though I know all the basics I often forget to USE them. x_x One eye up and one eye down is never a pretty sight when you zoom out after you've finished a piece. XD;
