Her eyes stayed open as she dropped from the top platform on the roof. Her hair flew into the sky and her arms flew out in her feeble attempt to stay for just a moment longer. The ground had disappeared from under her and down she fell.

Down past the windows of the apartments, she went. She fell past the family celebrating their child's sixth birthday. She floated past the man rigorously scrubbing his teeth, yellow from coffee and bad hygiene. She dropped past the two lovers in bed, the married man and the unsuspecting younger woman. She flew past the mother chasing her children across their tiny kitchen and she may have passed a couple having tea, but she would never know.

She fell from the sky like money onto businessmen. She flew through the clouds like a bat with broken wings. She dropped to the ground like an apple from an apple tree. It was too perfect to leave, it was too horrific to watch. When she finally reached the bottom, she fell into open arms. She fell smiling into the arms of her savior, the arms which were never there.
