Description Whiskered Tern

Marievale Nature Reserve
Nigel, South Africa

These Terns are just absolutely gorgeous. It's just a pity that the first outing of the year had weather that was less so. It was absolutely awful to be exact (cold, cloudy and windy) and I was surprised to see this turn out as well as it did given the circumstances.

The inside wing of the bird in flight is really striking - so soft and beautiful. This is a wonderful photo.

Thank you Johann. As I said to Dan, I agree cloudy conditions can help; but it was miserable. Grey and foggy. It's only PS that saved this shot. Thanks very much though!

Nice one, Ian. I think that the lighting conditions actually helped you here. The muted light helped you hold the highlights and preserve the shadow details. Excellent sharpness.

Thanks Dan. I had to work hard in post to get it here so cloud yes I agree is nice, but trust me it was grey and foggy. Much appreciated though.
