Description Two drawings in a row. I'M PRODUCTIVE.

Pyrrha Nikos from RWBY.

Sadly, up until this point, I don't really get the meaning behind her death. I think she kinda died in vain, to be completely honest. I hope the next season of the show gives me something to hold on to! (Don't get me wrong, I've loved RWBY since episode 1, not gonna change my mind any time soon).

Feel free to disagree.

Hope you enjoy

Her death doesn't really serve a purpose in the story but it does make us viewers feel worried for the rest of the cast and has set the tone for the story moving forward. It's kinda an ominous precedent because if Pyrrha is the only beloved character in RWBY that dies, it will seem like some sort of plot device to generate grief and emotion...

...So I kinda have to expect/want someone else to die in order for Pyrrha's death to not be some artificial tear-jerker. I'd like to believe Pyrrha was created and treated as a character in the RWBY universe, not just some sort of tool or plot device to make us more attached and sympathize with other characters.

...Or you know, they could bring her back.... ;^]

Oh definitely, as much as I hate that she's gone, it really worked amazingly with the plot.

I don't have much of an opinion, I'm more interested to see what will happen then, with a clear mind, you know?

True, true. It was a good shocker but I'm worried that her death will be made trivial by JNPR/RWBY recovering from her death in some stupid way, or will lead Jaune to become some stupid Paladin archetype that constantly harps on his lost bae...

I mean, considering how messed up STRQ became with Summer dying... and that was after they had experienced the brutality of fighting as hunters and growing into adults and settling down...... meanwhile, JNR are just freaking KIDS. If they magically recover from this loss I'm going to be very very disappointed.

Overall it opens the doors to a lot of cool plot points, but it also threatens some really cliche and stupid tropes as well. I don't want Pyrrha's death to lead to stupid stuff like that @_@

So overall I'm really excited for what the plot can become, but I also am really worried that it will be mishandled badly.

Wow, great picture although you will score high on the feelmeter.

I don't think Pyrhha died in vain, since she gave the fight her all, and lost only to overwhelming power. Soloing the boss was a mad risk, but it was a great lesson to the kids that sometimes a hero has to stand her ground, and not just let the villain score an easy win.

And also, her friends remembered her fight & fall, and are pledged not to make it a vain event. While Team RNJR fights for the right and strives to protect Remnant, Pyrrha's death wil not have been in vain.Β

I'm still upset at this, because she was my favourite character >.< I definitely see how much sense it makes that she had to die but it's mainly denial on my part, haha.
Having not seen Volume 4 yet, I can't tell what an impact this had to the rest, so I'll have to take your word for it

Also, thank you very much for the lovely comment ^^

Don't feel bad. Team RNJR has not accepted any reason for Pyrrha's death either. She is dead, Cinder Fall killed her, some bad guys & girls will have to pay for it! Β Β  Also please watch Volume 4. Even though Team RWBY is all over the map of Remnant and Team RNJR took the scenic route, a lot of things happened. And fewer people died, although the suspense was up there for a while. Plus everyone in RWBY + RNJR got an outfit upgrade and got at least 1 kickass scene.Β

I agree, she knew that there wasn't any chance of her succeeding at all. If she had a trace of Amber's power then maybe she could've done something. Her final fight was something to behold, but her actual death wasn't very good. It just happened in an instant like, "Hey! She's dead now!".

I hate to break it to you guys, but pyrrha really is dead. It was confirmed by jes brown, her voice actor, and that Monty planned this from the very beginning.

If we see her alive, then her whole achilles death would mean meaningless. Her death not only trigger death flags on everybody, but also made gave huge character development for both Ruby and Jaune.

Another thing why Rooster Teeth kill her off was not just because her death shocked the fans but she was way op. Not only she is four-time champion and undefeated, but her semblance is polarity. I mean everybody weapons are made of metal.

Though we might see her again in Volume 4 but not in the flesh, but probably in Jaune dream.

Snorri84 In reply to Pac115man [2017-10-05 05:23:29 +0000 UTC]

Pyrrha is dead, at least physically. We don't know what happened to her soul. We don't know what Remnant's afterlife is like. Some people have talked about her soul being inside Ruby, hence she hears her voice in her head, and hearing the final words between Cinder and Pyrrha even though she was too far away.

Also, of course Jen Brown confirmed her death, and I do believe it was planned by Monty. But we don't know what will happen in the future. There's magic and technology in Remnant that could possibly bring her back to life. I want her to return, but I don't want it to be rushed. She should stay dead for a volume or two more, so that her death can help inspire others, such as Ruby and Jaune. I want her to return if she can continue to grow as a character, and play a role in the story.

If you think her Semblance is overpowered, do know that Glynda can move anything and everyone with her telekinesis, not just metal.

TheHuntingPals In reply to Pac115man [2016-03-14 21:43:13 +0000 UTC]

Well no, the point of a character is to not be a reference to their inspiration, the inspiration is merely just flavor to the character. And besides, I've heard rumors that Achilles made a returning somewhere in his timeline.

And that's not entirely true on who's OP. Nora was really the one who was carrying team JNPR, and Pyrrha's semblence may have been polarity, but that didn't make her OP. In fact, if I'm to say who's more OP, it's Yang, obviously.

She was punched through a concrete pillar, which takes more than 1,000 tons of force to do, and she was hardly harmed. Everytime you hit her, she hits harder back, if not already dead. She hit the ground after reaching terminal velocity in volume 2. The only reason her arm was cut off was because Adam was stronger than her. She was depressed because she's never felt that kind of physical defeat. If we're to say who's more OP, it's definitely Yang.

And you can't just deaign a ship like that. Arkos only sailed for 5 minutes before it was sunk, and it's just not how you write love stories between two characters.

And before you tell me that the voice actor confirmed it, story tellers and show producers/actors manipulate their audience, they do this quite often. Look at George R.R. Martin and his Game of Thrones books. He confirmed that Seaworth died. Then years later, when the next book was released, through some weird conspiracy, he somehow survived.

And when I listened to Salem's speech (I may be wrong with this one), I heard her say "you send her to the same, pitiful demise." "Send." And then she says "This is the beginning of the end, Ozpin. And I can't wait to watch you burn." Ozpin is still alive. Who took him out? Cinder, and she left his cane behind, making everyone think he was dead (thank Qrow for saying that he'll "carry on where Ozpin left off"). Who took out Pyrrha? Cinder, and her circlet was left behind.

"But your stars still in the sky, so I won't say good bye." Think about those lyrics for a second.

And even so, I hard rumors that Monty said before he died that "none of the main 8 will die until volume 8." I know uncited evidence is the worst, but someone else was told these words. People are repeating it all over the place.

This is where I leave these words. Please respond if you have any objections, I am happy to hear them. Pyrrha's death did, in fact, rip me to shreds, too. Don't worry.

The only thing I'll agree on is that her Semblance makes her devastating against human opponents, which did have to be removed from play since it would take away any dramatic tension in combat scenes, since that was where the story was heading.Β  Then again, the one who killed her had the ability to TAKE PEOPLE'S POWERS....yeah, the first time she did it with a glove, but that brand appeared on her back right after the feed to Amber was cut off.Β  It doesn't matter if that is her personal symbol or not, the fact that it wasn't there until she absorbed half the Fall Maiden powers is significant.Β  For all we know, that was her absorbing that insect Grimm as well, and she no longer needs the glove to steal powers.

You know, when Cinder said "Add her to the list", I always felt that they would take her.

I mean, she is too much of an asset for them to just kill her, they will corrupt her, if they can, and turn her into a weapon for them.

It's been done before, and it would be up to Jaune to bring her back.

On the meta level, they basically built Pyrrha out of Death Tropes, then practically broadcast them every time we saw her.Β  If you ask me, that's a LOT of effort to send the measly little message "this character will die"....too much effort if all they're going to do is kill her....

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AraelIsrafel In reply to NickShepard117 [2016-04-13 16:38:32 +0000 UTC]

Well, she did take an arrow to her everything, so odds are she's physically dead, or was obscenely close to it when Cinder pulled her overkill.Β  But then again, for the return theory I favor, maybe all Salem needed was the body....

I find the "Emerald rescued her in time" theory entertaining, if only for the sheer level of Houdini illusioning Emmy would have to pull off (with a little help from Pyrrha to float the circlet, as that is certainly real).Β  I've called that one plausible, but highly unlikely.

In short, yes she's dead.Β  And yes, she can be revived in full, something that CAN be written well.

And to clarify my comment, they gave her character traits that savvy viewers notice are common to character that tend to die, and then RT's writers broadcasted them almost every time she was on-screen: the romantic sub-plot, the Ace status, the mentor thing, her Semblance, it goes on.Β  It was like they were intentionally telling us every time she was on-screen that her days were numbered.Β  Now, that seems like a LOT of effort put into one doomed character for the measly payoff of a death.Β  Also, it primes the audience, ESPECIALLY those who are of the "death should be final, no matter the genre, and resurrection is a very VERY bad thing" crowd, for a massive misdirect, in that death may not be the end for her.Β  I think she's being set up for a Fate Worse Than Death.Β  The one I favor: Grimm Pyrrha.

I don't think so because we saw how well Pyrrha held her own and even seemed to gain the upper hand, with Cinder only winning because of her two amplified semblances: fire made from air then used to create glassΒ
