Something different this time around for my yearly PCOS awareness art. This time I went with a mermaid & to have her design be inspired around the butterfly fish (since the butterfly is used as a symbol for PCOS awareness).

For those who do not know, about one in ten women are diagnosed with this endocrine disorder and it is believed that this is the leading cause of infertility issues for women in reproductive age. Some of the symptoms associated with PCOS includes:

-Few or no menstrual cycles
-Cysts that develop on the ovaries
-Decrease of feminine hormones (estrogen) which regulates monthly cycles
-High levels of masculinizing hormones that can cause acne and male pattern hair growth
-Increase risk of obesity, diabetes, insulin resistance, thyroid issues, heart problems
-Increased anxiety and depression
