Another addition to my AU of Banditale, where Undertale characters are swapped with Crash Bandicoot characters.

Been quite some time since I last posted anything about this AU onto Deviantart (since I'm focusing more on music than pictures), but I've definitely been working on it through YouTube. You can find the Banditale playlist here.

Anyway, as you can see, the Gaster of this AU is Grimly--a phantom-like mutant from Crash: Mind over Mutant. The interesting thing about Grimlies is that they seem to be the only mutant whose origins are completely unknown.

You can find out the specifics as to what happened to poor Grimly in this AU for him to become this way here , but here's a shorter version of the story:

Basically, with the scarcity of animals to experiment on, Cortex, the previous royal scientist, took matters into his own hands. As a result, he somehow managed to create Grimly--a highly intelligent creature who surprised him greatly. Thinking he could use Grimly to figure out a way to free them all from the world they had "warped" into, Cortex kept him around as a lab assistant. However, over time, Cortex gradually began to get more and more nervous over just how smart this Grimly was. Everyone was impressed by him, and Cortex was terrified to the point where he thought this Grimly would even take his place as Royal Scientist. Eventually, Cortex's paranoia overtook him, and one day, while they were at the VORTEX (the CORE in this AU), he shoved the Grimly over the railing...and you can probably guess what happened next.
Cortex was the only one with memory of Grimly, whereas everyone else seemed to have no recollection whatsoever. So because of Cortex's actions, Grimlies were technically deemed "extinct", seeing how this Grimly was the only one of its kind. Not wanting to be blamed, Cortex promptly destroyed all his research regarding the creatures.
As for Grimly, bitter and full of rage over his innocence in the matter, he swore that he would return to make all other species "extinct" so his kind could rule.
