The very first Anime I ever saw...I loved this movie as a kid.
I didn't understand all of it, but I loved the idea doing the
impossible everyday!
I'm So-aring!Β

I only watched this movie like... July of last year. And I can guarantee you, with a 100% free of nostalgia opinion... This movie is a masterpiece.
And agreed, the impossible mixed with the completely normal... This movie is just a big and heart-warming trip into the life of a girl. Sometimes, you don't need a "the Earth is in danger" plot, you just need to follow the life of a fully-realized character doing stuff, and you can get a good story out of it.Β

That was Hayao Miyazaki's Specialty. His style was more
"slice of life"...But he did chose some pretty Fantastic lives
to take a slice from, right! Most of the time, the characters
would just accept the strange and magical things that happen.
Like in Kiki, they would just go, "oh, a witch, that's nice. Unusual, but nice."
That cracks me up now, but as a kid, I wanted something amazing to
happen, and believed that no one would freak out about it.
If that happened in an American style film, the FBI, Homeland Security,
and SWAT would be all over it! It was a real talent to make
a story like that, without some "dire situation", And still keep the
attention of the audience.
