The Crosses was originally a type of Roman execution that was designed to be humiliating. The Manji was a symbol of peace. These thing are not at all compatible on how their meanings changed.

The cross was originally Pagan,adapted around the time of Alexander the Great (and many others),as a corporal punishment device,hence the title.
