So, that's Miyavi, he's a Japanese musician...I've just started working with this white gel pen, so mistakes are expected.
3H, H, HB, 2B Staedtler Mars Lumograph pencils;
6B Faber Castell pecil;
2B 0.5mm mechanical pencil;
White gel pen;
Tortillon nΒΊ 3 and tissues;
Fabriano paper A3 (42x29,7cm)

Yeah, the white gel pen is quite a tool, but ment for little details, , not those big areas. ^^

Any tips on beginners with a white gel pen? I plan on purchasing one but am a little wary to use it..

Well, working with a white gel pen is pretty easy. It's good for highlights and little white details, but it doesn't work very well for bigger spots.
When you apply it, the ink is moisty and takes a little while to dry, so you can correct mistakes easily.
The only thing I can think about is to try to fade out the edges of the detail you drew when the ink is still moisty, so it will blend in nicely into the lighting/shading/atmosphere of the drawing.
Anyway, I don't know if I was any helpfull, but..

Thanks! I need it for small detail highlighting in hair strands/eyes. How does one fade out the edges when moist? With a tissue? With pencil? I'm sorry for the interrogation, But I've worked in pencil with this particular drawing for 6 hours or so
(perhaps more! Time flies) and I do not want to make a horrid mistake and destroy it! Can you layer over white gel pen with pencil if a mistake has been made once gel pen has dried? In essence, I am curious on the white gel pen-pencil compatibly. Thanks in advance!

Ah, no problem, it's nice to help. ^^
To fade I usually press it down with the tip of my little finger, but a tissue may work just fine.
When it is already dry and I want to remove what I've done, I usually peel off the dried ink with my nails, slightly scratching the paper, so it won't be damaged. Layering over it with the pencil doesn't work very well.
Anyway, before applying the white gel pen on the drawing, it's a good idea to test it on another sheet of the same paper, so you can see how the paper assimilates the ink and to try out how to fade out and how to peel off the ink.
