based on some japanese baby spirit that licks the oil out of lampsan interesting thing to note: this is the only baby stage pokemon that doesnt evolve
also i think im done with that art block

So while I was looking for already made Fakemon I stumbled accross your Fakemon Oilick.
I really love the design and sinister origin behind it.

This is totally AWESOME!! And I like how it uses a "somewhat big" tongue and it is not related to, or a replacement of lickitung. And I love how you based it off of an old Japanese legend that I've never heard of ^^

Well, if it didn't have any evolutions or pre-evolutions, wouldn't it just be a basic stage Pokemon? Technically, a baby stage Pokemon is one that evolves into a previously-existing Pokemon. You know, like Magby, Pichu, Cleffa, etc.
Not necessarily a useful Pokemon (in the comptetitive scene, anyway), but cool nonetheless.

They never said that explicitly, but they did specify that a Baby Pokemon evolves, and that a Pokemon that cannot evolve and whose previous evolution is not a Basic or Stage 1 Pokemon is a Basic Pokemon. That is why both Mr. Mime and Dunsparce are Basic Pokemon--Mr. Mime's only pre-evo is a Baby Pokemon (as Mime Jr. is not Basic or Stage 1), and Dunsparce doesn't evolve into or from anything.
But it could be the "Baby Pokemon," just as Torterra is the "Continent Pokemon," etm.

What do you mean it doesn't have anything to do with anything. The job requirement for being a baby Pokemon is having an evolution.
This, here, is a Basic stage Pokemon that is based off of a baby and is very babylike in design. Still a Basic type.
