Gorgeous ...
And nice use of different amounts of lighting to frame the picture and create depth.

oh that is roughly how many days I did in each city as well.. which did you enjoy more? Did you get out to Tuscany at all while in Florence?

I enjoyed Florence more, to be honest: It was prettier, there were fewer tourists, and the locals were less persistent about trying to scam the tourists. (This was in 2002, when the lira-to-euro switch was just in, and all of the restaurant menus were still in lira. The final bill in Euros was never anywhere near where it was supposed to be, nor was it ever in my favor. Everyone around me always just paid up when they got their bill, assumedly because being unable to divide mentally by 2574.26 -- or whatever the conversion rate was -- meant that they made no effort to evaluate whether it was correct. But it was easy enough to ballpark, and I noticed when doing so that I was inevitably overcharged by about 30 to 40 percent. Pointing this out led to a facile apology for the "error" and a corrected bill. This happened at every meal in Rome, but only every other meal in Florence.)
I didn't get much of a chance to get out of Florence into the countryside ... sigh ... I'll have to make another trip to Italy in the next few years and do it properly. If the dollar ever gets any stronger.

I wish I were going back soon too, but you're probably right, going back to school will probably keep me from going back to Europe for a few years. Darnit ... maybe I'll travel the summer after I pass my first round of orals. I will be going to visit my dad this summer, though. He's been living and working in the Philippines for a few years. That should be interesting.
I had some great food in Italy, but to be honest, the best Italian food I ever had was in Germany. For some reason, Italian food was consistently spectacular there. But I really would love to spend some more time in Italy, and will have to find a way to do so before I get much older. I'd also like to see the UK again, and more of Ireland ... and I'm jealous of you for your trip to Greece, I've never been there. Next time I head for Europe, I'm taking a decent camera, too.

The Philippines sound wonderful. That part of the world will have to wait. I have a great friend that was moved out to Thailand and I was supposed to visit him but now the company moved him to China and China is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down on my list of must see's

I'm really looking forward to it. It's been almost a quarter-century since I've been to Asia! I do agree with you about your enthusiasm to see China.
